About the Course

Mariana Butte is an 18-hole, par-72 championship course designed by Dick Phelps and opened in 1992, with a routing that makes excellent use of the natural terrain at the foot of the Front Range. Playing to about 6,700 yards from the back tees, it balances genuine challenge with playability and, thanks to elevation and scenery, ranks among Colorado's most memorable public rounds. It is open to the public. Dick Phelps routed the course to take full advantage of the dramatic terrain, so soaring elevated tees launch you toward fairways framed by red-rock buttes, river bluffs, and Front Range vistas. Several holes play right along the rushing Big Thompson River, and the two signature holes, the 14th and 16th, are the ones you will be talking about afterward. The fairways generally offer generous landing zones, but position matters, favoring the high side opens up the greens, so it rewards thoughtful golf while staying welcoming for newer players. Add true, well-conditioned greens and an easy, walkable layout, and it is easy to see why it is repeatedly named among the best public courses on the Front Range.
