Venue Overview

Apex Tennis Center is at 6430 Miller St in Arvada, operated by the Apex Park and Recreation District, phone 303.420.1210. The district calls it a full-service facility that meets all your tennis needs, with certified teaching staff serving ages 5.5 and up. Formerly the Arvada Tennis Center, the current building was funded by a voter-approved bond in 2016 and broke ground in May 2017. The original build year and acreage are not published. The center closes on New Year's Day, July 4, Thanksgiving and Christmas, and runs 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the two eves.

About the Courts

Twelve courts total: four indoor climate-controlled courts and eight outdoor courts, all available year-round. The indoor structure is not a bubble. It is a permanent pre-engineered metal building of roughly 101,000 square feet designed by Perkins+Will, with the four courts divided by drop-down mesh nets, and the district highlights its lighting and ventilation. Surface is not published by the district; the contractor described the 2017-18 outdoor rebuild as post-tension surfaces, which is the closest thing to a public answer. The lighted-court breakdown is also not published. There is no pickleball at this address; Apex runs its pickleball at other district sites.

Two Official Hour Listings That Do Not Match

Apex publishes two different sets of operating hours on its own website, and we are reporting both rather than guessing. The facility page says 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. The tennis activity page says Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., Saturday 7 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and Sunday 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. If you are counting on a late weeknight court, call 303.420.1210 and confirm. It is a meaningful gap, an hour and a half on a Sunday and three and a half hours on a Tuesday.

Lessons & Instruction

Private instruction is available, and adult drills are rated by UTR from 1 to 6, with a UTR required before you can register. That is a stricter gate than most public facilities use and it keeps the drill groups tight. Youth programming runs five age-based levels: Pre-Rally Red for ages 5.5 to 8, Orange Ball Rally for 8 to 11, Green Ball Rally for 11 to 13, Middle and High School Beginners for 13 to 18, and High School Prep for 13 to 18. Above that sits the Apex Tournament Team, which is invitation only and runs year-round. Be aware that the district publishes no individual teaching pros by name. It states that the staff is USPTA and PTR certified, but the only people named on its pages are administrators, Kim Greason as Recreation Manager for Tennis and Tim Jenkins as Recreation Coordinator for Tennis, neither of whom is listed as a coach. Ask for a specific pro when you call.

Leagues & Events

North Jeffco Tennis Club, an independent community club active since 1974, uses Apex as its home courts and runs the North Jeffco Palooza here. That relationship gives the center a standing community calendar independent of district programming. Program registration is handled online, separate from the phone-based court booking described below.

Full payment is due at booking, split payments are not accepted, cancellations need 72 hours notice for a refund or household credit, and no-shows are not refunded. Access is public daily fee with resident and non-resident tiering, plus Permanent Court Time blocks for groups wanting a standing slot. Twelve courts with four indoors and climate controlled gives an organizer a genuine weather hedge, which is the main argument for hosting here.
