These courts sit near W 46th Ave and Vrain St inside Berkeley Lake Park, Denver's official name for the park. The address is genuinely muddled. Denver's reservation system lists 4601 W. 46th Ave. with an 80219 ZIP that is almost certainly a data error, since every other source places the park in 80212, and Denver's own dog park and History Colorado listings describe the location as W. 46th Ave. and Sheridan Blvd. For permits, contact the Parks Permit Office at 720-913-0700 or park.permits@denvergov.org.

About the Courts

Denver's 2026 Tennis Court Inventory lists these courts individually, which is unusually specific for a public park. Court 1 has year-round lights and is drop-in play. Courts 2 through 8 have year-round lights and are permittable. Courts 9 and 10 have no lights and are drop-in Quick Start courts. That is ten outdoor courts, eight lit and two unlit. Surface is not published. Lighting is where Denver contradicts itself. The Athletic Fields and Courts page names Berkeley among only six locations with year-round court lights, matching the inventory, but the Park Amenities page lists it as lighted without the asterisk marking winter-lighting sites, implying seasonal March through October lighting. Two of three official sources say year-round.

Pickleball Is Prohibited Here

This one matters, because crowd-sourced directories get it wrong. Several list "Berkeley Park Tennis Courts" as a ten-court pickleball venue. Denver's Athletic Fields and Courts page states flatly that pickleball play is strictly prohibited on tennis courts, and Denver's own list of outdoor pickleball locations names Bear Valley, Gates Tennis Center, Huston Lake, MLK Jr. Park, Northfield and Eisenhower. Berkeley is not on it.

Lessons & Instruction

Youth options run Level 1 Beginner for ages five to 16 and Level 2 Advanced Beginner for ages seven to 17, all Saturday mornings. Denver publishes activity numbers, ages and times but names no instructors. Summer camps and partner-run nonprofit programming here are not published.

Leagues & Events

Denver runs its own CWS Mixed 2.0 to 2.5 Tennis League at Berkeley Park on Courts 5 through 8, Thursdays from 6 to 8 p.m., August 6 through September 24, 2026, for ages 18 and up. No recurring tournament hosted at Berkeley is published; Denver operates a general seasonal tournament permit process with applications due at least 30 days out but publishes no venue-specific calendar. One clarification: the "Berkeley Park Tennis Club" that won the 2025 USTA Colorado Mixed 18 and Over 9.0 district championship is a league team, not an event hosted here. It does confirm Berkeley works as a league home site.

Denver uses a park permit process rather than a booking app. Requests go through Denver Parks and Recreation Online and take three business days to process. Courts are reserved by the hour, and residents and non-residents can both reserve up to 365 days ahead. Permits are issued only for practice, league or pickup games, and lessons, with USTA-sanctioned organizations given first priority. Permit season covers spring, summer and fall; from October 24 through March 14 it is drop-in only. Denver guarantees one drop-in court stays open at all times, and park curfew closes the grounds from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.
