Venue Overview

Lakota Links is a public 18-hole golf course in New Castle, tucked into the rugged canyons of Western Colorado just off the Interstate 70 corridor below the Flat Tops Wilderness Area. Formerly known as Lakota Canyon Ranch Golf Club, the course opened for play in May 2004 and was designed by nationally renowned architect James Engh, whose routing takes full advantage of the property's dramatic terrain, including elevated tee boxes that drop as much as 100 feet to the fairway below. Playing to 7,111 yards, Lakota Links has earned recognition as one of Golf Digest's Top 25 courses in Colorado, and NBC's GolfPass has ranked it the No. 3 course in the state, making it a popular day-trip stop for golfers traveling between Aspen, Vail, and Grand Junction. The Glenwood Post Independent's Local's Choice awards have also named Lakota Links one of the top three courses in Garfield County, a reflection of its standing with both traveling golfers and the local Roaring Fork Valley golf community.

Practice Facilities

Lakota Links offers a driving range and putting green for golfers to warm up before their round. During the winter months when the course itself is closed, golfers can stay sharp on the club's indoor golf simulator, the Game Zone, which features an enclosure, projector, and hitting mats for realistic, true-to-life gameplay.

Dining and Amenities

The Lakota Lookout Bar & Grill serves lunch, dinner, and drinks with sweeping views of the canyon course, including a Sunday brunch alongside its regular Wednesday-through-Saturday hours. The clubhouse includes a full-service golf shop, and Lakota Links also offers venue rental for weddings and private events overlooking the course's dramatic canyon scenery. The property is part of the larger Lakota Canyon Ranch community, which includes residential real estate at Lakota Canyon Ranch and Longview at Lakota alongside the golf course itself.

Tournaments & Events

Lakota Links runs a full slate of Men's and Women's Golf Association leagues throughout the season, including a competitive 18-hole women's league and a more casual nine-hole social option, along with tournaments and group clinics. The course's venue rental program and Lakota Lookout Bar & Grill make it a popular choice for hosting golf outings, tournaments, and private events against the backdrop of the course's canyon views. Groups can also book the Game Zone simulator for indoor golf outings or as a cold-weather complement to an outdoor round.

Apply for Event Management

Event Management Application (2027)
CUP manages 10 sporting events per season, and that is the cap.
Applications for the 2027 season are reviewed starting October 1, 2026. Returning clients confirm their dates first, then remaining slots go to new clients. This is an application, not a booking, and it takes about 6 minutes.

Your organization

Who is hosting, and how we reach you.

Beneficiary

Only if the event raises money for a cause.

Your sporting event

The basics we need to judge fit.

Out-of-state note: our standard pricing covers events held in Colorado. Events outside Colorado are quoted individually with travel and on-site costs included.
Worth knowing before you submit: our fully-managed service starts at 100 people on site. Below that the economics do not work for either of us, so this is likely not a fit. You can still apply, and you can always list your sporting event on the CUP calendar instead.
This one gets a custom quote. Our standard service model covers single-day events with 100 to 160 people on site, including vendors. Larger fields and multi-day events still work, we just scope them and send a custom quote instead of a standard price.

What success looks like

So we can tell you straight whether we are the right team.

Budget and timing

Fully-managed service is a real line item. Straight answers save us both time.

A CUP engagement runs roughly 150 to 200 hours of planning, design, marketing and coordination, handled by one team from the first call to the final award. Applications need a real budget line for professional management, separate from venue, food and prizes.
Worth knowing before you submit: a fully-managed engagement sits above this range, so this is likely not a fit for 2027. You are welcome to apply anyway. If self-serve is the better move right now, you can list your sporting event and add promotion here: list your event.

Then we will be in touch.
