Venue Overview

Battlement Mesa Golf Club is a public, 18-hole championship course in Battlement Mesa, Colorado, widely considered the best course on the Western Slope. Perched on a bluff overlooking the Colorado River just off I-70 near Parachute, this Finger Dye Spann design plays as a walkable plateau course where the landscape, carved over millennia by the river, sets the challenge. Golden eagles patrol the bluffs, wild turkeys and elk roam the fairways, and clear-day views stretch 50 miles down the river valley. A repeat "must play" pick from Golf Digest, Golfweek, and GolfWRX, and a tremendous value, Battlement Mesa is a scenic, welcoming home for tournaments, outings, and group play.

About the Course

Battlement Mesa plays as an 18-hole, par-72 championship course designed by the firm Finger Dye Spann and opened in 1987. Set at roughly 5,000 feet on a bluff above the Colorado River, it stretches to 7,309 yards from the back tees, with four sets of tees and large, multi-pin greens that give it both teeth and flexibility. It earned a Golf Digest Honorable Mention for best new public course in its opening year and is consistently ranked among Colorado's must-play public courses. Course features: 18-hole, par-72 championship course designed by Finger Dye Spann 7,309 yards from the back tees, with four sets of tees Course rating of 73.9 and a slope of 135 Opened in 1987, perched on a bluff above the Colorado River at about 5,000 feet Large greens with multiple hole locations and just one forced carry Highly walkable, with easy hikes between green and tee Abundant wildlife, including golden eagles, wild turkeys, and elk Long-range views stretching up to 50 miles down the river valley Driving range, practice facility, and pro shop

The Playing Experience

Battlement Mesa is golf the way nature intended. The course was effectively architected by the river, with elevations, approaches, and penalties shaped by the plateaus the water carved over millennia, so the challenge feels honest and built into the land rather than bolted on. The greens are large and run with multiple hole locations, there is only one forced carry on the entire course, and the routing walks beautifully, more heathland than target golf. The lower Western Slope elevation keeps the season long and the conditions firm, while the scenery, golden eagles on the bluffs, the occasional elk crossing, and 50-mile views down the Colorado River, makes it one of the most distinctive rounds in the state. It is no surprise locals consider it the best course in Western Colorado.

Apply for Event Management

Event Management Application (2027)
CUP manages 10 sporting events per season, and that is the cap.
Applications for the 2027 season are reviewed starting October 1, 2026. Returning clients confirm their dates first, then remaining slots go to new clients. This is an application, not a booking, and it takes about 6 minutes.

Your organization

Who is hosting, and how we reach you.

Beneficiary

Only if the event raises money for a cause.

Your sporting event

The basics we need to judge fit.

Out-of-state note: our standard pricing covers events held in Colorado. Events outside Colorado are quoted individually with travel and on-site costs included.
Worth knowing before you submit: our fully-managed service starts at 100 people on site. Below that the economics do not work for either of us, so this is likely not a fit. You can still apply, and you can always list your sporting event on the CUP calendar instead.
This one gets a custom quote. Our standard service model covers single-day events with 100 to 160 people on site, including vendors. Larger fields and multi-day events still work, we just scope them and send a custom quote instead of a standard price.

What success looks like

So we can tell you straight whether we are the right team.

Budget and timing

Fully-managed service is a real line item. Straight answers save us both time.

A CUP engagement runs roughly 150 to 200 hours of planning, design, marketing and coordination, handled by one team from the first call to the final award. Applications need a real budget line for professional management, separate from venue, food and prizes.
Worth knowing before you submit: a fully-managed engagement sits above this range, so this is likely not a fit for 2027. You are welcome to apply anyway. If self-serve is the better move right now, you can list your sporting event and add promotion here: list your event.
