Venue Overview
Keystone Golf is the 36-hole golf offering at Keystone Resort in Keystone, Colorado, about an hour and a half west of Denver in the heart of Summit County. Named by Golf Digest among the five best golf resorts in the Rockies and Great Plains, Keystone features two award-winning, distinctly different championship courses set at 9,280 feet: Keystone Ranch, a Robert Trent Jones Jr. design on historic ranch land, and The River Course, a dramatic Hurdzan-Fry layout along the Snake River. With stay-and-play packages, family-friendly programs, and a lively resort atmosphere, Keystone is one of Colorado's premier golf getaways, and a spectacular setting for tournaments, outings, and events.Keystone Ranch Golf Course
Keystone Ranch is an 18-hole, par-72 course designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. and opened in 1980, set on land that was a lettuce and dairy farm in the early 1900s, with original homestead structures and barns still dotting the property. The front nine plays with a Scottish links theme before the back nine settles into a traditional mountain-valley design through sage meadows, with the 9th and 18th holes kissing the shores of a sparkling nine-acre lake. Keystone Ranch at a glance: 18-hole, par-72 course designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., opened in 1980 Up to 7,017 yards, with a course rating of 72.2 and a slope of 142 A Scottish links front nine and a mountain-valley back nine A nine-acre lake in play on the 9th and 18th holes Historic ranch structures and barns woven throughout the layout Relatively gentle elevation change, a rarity for mountain golf Ranked among the top courses in Colorado by Golf Digest Home to the acclaimed Keystone Ranch Restaurant in the historic ranch houseThe River Course at Keystone
The River Course is an 18-hole, par-71 course designed by the celebrated team of Dr. Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry, opened in 2000. Built into the surrounding landscape, its front nine winds along the Snake River before the back nine climbs and disappears into the forest, with dramatic elevation changes that make it one of the most exhilarating rounds in the state. The River Course at a glance: 18-hole, par-71 course designed by Hurdzan-Fry, opened in 2000 Up to 6,886 yards, with five sets of tees for all abilities A front nine along the Snake River and a forested, mountainous back nine A signature 16th hole that drops nearly 200 feet from tee to green Closing views of Lake Dillon, Buffalo Mountain, and the Gore Range An environmentally friendly design with abundant wildlife Recognized for best mountain course, best views, best wildlife, and best serviceThe Playing Experience
Though they sit almost across the street from each other, Keystone's two courses could hardly be more different, which is exactly what makes the 36-hole experience so special. Keystone Ranch is the classic one, a Robert Trent Jones Jr. design that opens with links character and settles into a scenic mountain-valley rhythm, all wrapped in old-western ranch heritage and framed by panoramic sunsets, bugling elk, and howling coyotes. The River Course is the thriller, a Hurdzan-Fry layout of "wow" shots and bold elevation changes, none more memorable than the 16th, which drops nearly 200 feet toward the Continental Divide and Lake Dillon. At 9,280 feet the ball flies noticeably farther on both, and it would be hard to find two courses this good, and this varied, in one place.Practice, Instruction & Golf Programs
Keystone supports golfers of every age and ability across both courses: Practice facilities at both the Ranch and River courses The free Keystone Golf app, with GPS yardages, booking, and scoring PGA teaching professionals offering private lessons and clinics for women, men, juniors, seniors, and groups Family-friendly programs, including Kids Swing Free, Time for Nine, and the beginner-focused SNAG programDining
Keystone's golf courses feature memorable dining, headlined by the Keystone Ranch Restaurant, an acclaimed fine-dining experience set in the property's historic 1900s ranch house, with additional dining at the River Course clubhouse to round out the day.Stay & Play and Events
Keystone is one of Colorado's best stay-and-play destinations, with lodging ranging from hotel rooms and condos to private homes just minutes from both courses, and Stay, Play & Save packages that bundle golf and lodging with exclusive savings. Beyond golf, the resort offers hiking, mountain biking, fishing, horseback riding, paddle boating, a spa, and village festivals. For groups, both courses handle tournaments and outings, and Keystone Resort is a premier setting for weddings, meetings, and celebrations. Event types hosted: Charity and nonprofit fundraising tournaments Corporate and group outings Multi-day golf trips and stay-and-play getaways Weddings and special events Contact the resort to inquire about golf events, tournament packages, and weddings.Planning Your Event Here
Keystone works well for organizers who want a two-course resort with the flexibility of 36 holes, on-site lodging, and a full slate of resort amenities, all about 90 minutes from Denver off I-70. Golf is seasonal, typically running from mid-May into the early fall, and stay-and-play packages make it especially easy to build a multi-day group trip.
