Owned by the Town of Breckenridge and set at over 9,300 feet in the heart of the Rockies, the club offers 27 holes of championship mountain golf across three distinct nines, the Bear, the Beaver, and the Elk, each designed by Jack Nicklaus. Breckenridge Golf Club features 27 holes across three Jack Nicklaus Signature nines, the Bear (opened 1985), the Beaver (1987), and the Elk (2001), each playing to a par of 36 and combining into varied 18-hole rounds of par 72. Set at more than 9,300 feet, the courses weave through wooded hillsides, open grasslands, and wetlands, with the thin mountain air adding distance and the Nicklaus design providing plenty of challenge. Breckenridge's three nines each tell their own story, and can be mixed and matched for a fresh 18 every time: The Bear, the original nine from 1985, plays across "Buffalo Flats," once a tent city of gold miners The Beaver, opened in 1987, is the most manageable of the three, with beaver ponds and old mining "tailings" dotting the landscape The Elk, added in 2001, offers the most elevation change and the most dramatic panoramic views of the Ten-Mile Range
