Venue Overview
Heather Ridge Golf Course is a public, 18-hole course in Aurora, Colorado, tucked just west of I-225 on Iliff Avenue and known for having some of the best greens in the state. Originally a private club for three decades, it was purchased by the surrounding homeowners and reopened to the public in 2010, and today it is celebrated as a true shot-maker’s course and one of the best values in the Denver metro. Designed by renowned Colorado architect Dick Phelps, the par-70 layout pairs small, cleverly sloped greens with Rocky Mountain views, easy access from anywhere in the metro, and a welcoming pace that makes it a favorite for leagues, outings, and tournaments.
About the Course
Heather Ridge plays as an 18-hole, par-70 course that rewards precision over power. At around 6,100 yards from the back tees with multiple sets of tees, it is short on paper but demanding in practice, thanks to small greens and tight corridors. After 30 years as a private club, it became Aurora’s newest public course in 2010 and has earned a reputation for excellent conditioning.
Course features:
18-hole, par-70 layout Around 6,100 yards from the back tees, with multiple tee sets Designed by Colorado architect Dick Phelps, opened in 1972 Small, undulating, and heavily sloped greens, among the best in the state Narrow fairways with water hazards in play A demanding par-5 10th, the toughest hole on the course Rocky Mountain views across the property Driving range and practice area Easy access just west of I-225 on Iliff Avenue
The Playing Experience
Heather Ridge is a shot-maker’s course in the truest sense. The yardage is modest, so the driver often stays in the bag, but the challenge lives on and around the greens, which are small, fast, and dramatically sloped, widely regarded as some of the best putting surfaces in Colorado. Narrow, home-lined fairways and well-placed water hazards put a premium on accuracy off the tee, and the par-5 10th stands out as the course’s stiffest test. Add in mountain views and a price that consistently ranks among the metro’s best values, and it is easy to see why locals keep coming back to sharpen their short game and their scorecards.
