Fox Hollow Golf Course is a public, 27-hole municipal facility in Lakewood, Colorado, owned and operated by the City of Lakewood. Designed by Denis Griffiths and built in the early 1990s, Fox Hollow sits next to Bear Creek Lake Park on native rolling prairie land, offering three distinct nine-hole courses — the Canyon, the Meadow, and the Links — each with its own character. One of the busiest courses in Colorado, generating upwards of 60,000 rounds a year, Fox Hollow was also one of the first courses in the nation designed to be fully accessible to golfers with disabilities.

About the Course

Denis Griffiths' 27-hole routing at Fox Hollow gives golfers three genuinely different rounds within a single facility. The Canyon nine descends through the foothills' slopes, the Meadow nine intertwines with Bear Creek Lake and tightly lined cottonwood trees to create several water hazards, and the Links nine plays as a Scottish-style test set against the Rocky Mountain foothills. Five sets of tees challenge golfers of every ability, and the course's protected natural setting, wildlife, and vistas make it easy to forget the layout sits just a few miles from downtown Denver.

A 2025 Renovation Reshaping the Canyon and Links

In 2025, the City of Lakewood brought in architect Thad Layton of Thad Layton Design to lead a five-hole improvement project at Fox Hollow, focused on four holes on the Canyon nine, one hole on the Links nine, and a complete revamp of the short game area. Rather than simply restoring aging infrastructure, Layton used data gathered from USGA GPS loggers to reposition course features in a more strategic and impactful way, reflecting how the game has evolved since Griffiths' original design. The project includes wholesale fairway expansions across all three nines, reworked bunkers, and vegetation removal, with Kansas City-based Viridity Golf handling construction and longtime course superintendent Mark Krick overseeing the work for the city.
