Collindale Golf Course is a public, 18-hole championship-length course on 160 acres in southeast Fort Collins, owned and operated by the City of Fort Collins. Designed by architect Frank Hummel and opened in 1971, the course plays 7,026 yards from the longest tees to a par of 71, with a course rating of 72.3 and a slope rating of 127. Collindale is widely regarded as home to some of the fastest, best-conditioned greens in the state, a reputation that has made it a regular host for local U.S. Open qualifying.About the Course
Now in its sixth decade, Collindale has grown into one of northern Colorado's most established municipal courses, known equally for its greens and for the depth of instruction available on site through the Collindale Golf Academy and Club Fitting Center. The course anchors Fort Collins' city-run golf program alongside City Park Nine, and its combination of championship-caliber conditioning with municipal pricing has kept it a favorite among competitive and recreational golfers alike. Lessons and Instruction
Collindale's instruction program is anchored by:- Earl Gerlach, PGA - Director of Instruction, Collindale Golf Academy. Earl's golf career began in Normal, Illinois, where he played in high school and worked at the Ironwood municipal course before going on to spend the last decade teaching at Collindale.
- Dale Smigelsky, PGA - Longtime Collindale golf professional. Dale turned professional at 19 in Winter Park, Florida, was elected to PGA membership in 1985, and joined Collindale in 1993 as shop manager under then-head professional Joe Nance. He was named Colorado PGA Public Merchandiser of the Year in both 2010 and 2017.
Tournaments and Events
Collindale's championship-quality greens, full-length layout, and history as a U.S. Open qualifying site make it a strong host for competitive tournaments, club championships, corporate outings, and scrambles. It is also an annual host site for the Fort Collins Championship and the Fort Collins Women's Open.
