Venue Overview

Chicken N Pickle Thornton is an indoor and outdoor pickleball and dining complex at The Grove shopping center near I-25 and 144th Avenue, and the brand's first location in Colorado. Opened in June 2025 across three acres and more than 45,000 square feet, the venue pairs eight professional-grade pickleball courts with a chef-driven rotisserie restaurant, full-service bars, and a game yard. The result is less a court rental and more a full evening out, built to work equally well for a competitive league night, a company outing, or a family looking for something to do on a Sunday.

About the Courts

Chicken N Pickle Thornton runs eight courts: six indoors and two covered outdoor courts. The indoor building uses an open-air design with garage doors that raise halfway, connecting the indoor and outdoor play areas and giving the space an airy feel that most indoor facilities cannot match. Thornton is also the first Chicken N Pickle location built with windows overlooking the indoor courts, so spectators and diners can watch play without standing courtside. Every court is ADA accessible, and the venue keeps wheelchairs on site for players who need them. Courts are reservable online up to two weeks in advance.

Built for Groups, Not Just Players

What separates Thornton from a standard pickleball club is the event infrastructure sitting on top of the courts. The property holds nine distinct indoor and outdoor event spaces, including a rooftop with courtside and mountain views, The Roost, The Boardwalk, two bier gardens, and a game yard stocked with cornhole, ping pong, life-sized Battleship, and Jenga. On-site event planners and on-site catering handle groups from 20 people up to 1,500 or more, which makes the venue a realistic host for a charity tournament with a reception attached, a corporate team-building day, or a fundraiser that needs both courts and a room.

Lessons & Instruction

Newbie Night runs on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. for players picking up a paddle for the first time, and a Drills and Social Play session runs Saturday mornings from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. The venue also runs a monthly Adaptive Pickleball program and summer junior camps and clinics. Contact the venue at (303) 228-0818 for current lesson and clinic availability.

Leagues & Events

Open Play runs daily from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. on the indoor courts, split between Social Courts on a four-on, four-off rotation and Challenge Courts where winners stay on. First responders play free with a badge. Beyond open play, the venue hosts charity pickleball tournaments, ladder leagues, weekly Brunch and Bingo and trivia nights, seasonal wine walks, and a free monthly Kids Crew meetup for children 12 and under.

Planning Your Sporting Event Here

Thornton is one of the few Denver-area pickleball venues where the courts, the catering, and the reception space all sit under one roof and one point of contact. Groups of 15 or more can reserve an event space, standard events run on a three-hour block, and food and beverage minimums apply in place of room rental. Organizers running a multi-city corporate program can work through Chicken N Pickle's national sales team. Contact the venue's private events line at (303) 381-8482 to coordinate a booking.

Apply for Event Management

Event Management Application (2027)
CUP manages 10 sporting events per season, and that is the cap.
Applications for the 2027 season are reviewed starting October 1, 2026. Returning clients confirm their dates first, then remaining slots go to new clients. This is an application, not a booking, and it takes about 6 minutes.

Your organization

Who is hosting, and how we reach you.

Beneficiary

Only if the event raises money for a cause.

Your sporting event

The basics we need to judge fit.

Out-of-state note: our standard pricing covers events held in Colorado. Events outside Colorado are quoted individually with travel and on-site costs included.
Worth knowing before you submit: our fully-managed service starts at 100 people on site. Below that the economics do not work for either of us, so this is likely not a fit. You can still apply, and you can always list your sporting event on the CUP calendar instead.
This one gets a custom quote. Our standard service model covers single-day events with 100 to 160 people on site, including vendors. Larger fields and multi-day events still work, we just scope them and send a custom quote instead of a standard price.

What success looks like

So we can tell you straight whether we are the right team.

Budget and timing

Fully-managed service is a real line item. Straight answers save us both time.

A CUP engagement runs roughly 150 to 200 hours of planning, design, marketing and coordination, handled by one team from the first call to the final award. Applications need a real budget line for professional management, separate from venue, food and prizes.
Worth knowing before you submit: a fully-managed engagement sits above this range, so this is likely not a fit for 2027. You are welcome to apply anyway. If self-serve is the better move right now, you can list your sporting event and add promotion here: list your event.
