Venue Overview

Aurora Hills Golf Course is Aurora's original public golf course, an 18-hole, par-72 municipal layout that has been a centrally located favorite in the Denver metro since 1969. Known for reasonable rates and consistently great conditions, Aurora Hills remains one of the most popular courses in the Aurora golf system more than five decades after it opened.

About the Course

Designed by architect Henry Hughes and opened in 1969, Aurora Hills is a fairly flat, easily walkable traditional design with wide, tree-lined fairways, water hazards, and sand bunkers. The course's par-5 10th hole is considered its signature hole, prized for its scenic lake views, and the overall layout offers challenges suited to every ability level while staying true to its traditional roots.

Aurora's Original Public Course

As the first course built specifically as part of Aurora's municipal golf system, Aurora Hills holds a unique place in the city's golf history, opening three decades before sister course Murphy Creek arrived in 1999. Its central location and long-standing reputation for well-maintained conditions have made it a go-to option for Denver-metro golfers since 1969, and it remains a value-oriented round even as newer municipal courses have joined the Aurora system.

Lessons & Instruction

Lessons at Aurora Hills are available with PGA Master Professional Chris Schultz, a Teaching Professional whose coaching is verified on PGA.com. He teaches at this City of Aurora course during the summer season, working with golfers of all levels. (Instructor as of 2026.)
