Venue Overview

West Woods Golf Club is a public, 27-hole golf facility in Arvada, Colorado, featuring three distinct nine-hole courses — The Sleeping Indian, The Cottonwood, and The Silo. Designed by noted Colorado golf architect Richard M. Phelps and certified as an Audubon International Cooperative Sanctuary, West Woods pairs classic golf with one of the Denver area's best practice facilities.

About the Course

The Sleeping Indian and Cottonwood nines opened in 1994, designed by Richard M. Phelps, one of Colorado's best-known golf architects. His son, Rick Phelps, later laid out the third nine, The Silo, in 1998-99, rounding out the 27-hole facility. Together, the three courses can be combined for a variety of 18-hole rounds, each with its own natural scenery and challenges for players of every skill level.

A Father-Son Design Legacy, Environmentally Certified

West Woods carries a two-generation design pedigree, with Richard M. Phelps laying out the original Sleeping Indian and Cottonwood nines before his son Rick added The Silo a few years later. The club was also recognized as the 29th course in Colorado and the 637th in the world to earn Audubon International Cooperative Sanctuary certification, placing it among fewer than 2% of the world's golf courses recognized for sustained excellence in environmental planning, wildlife and habitat management, and water conservation.

Lessons & Instruction

Golf at West Woods is led by PGA Head Professional Steve Lynes. This Arvada course offers private instruction through the pro shop for players of all levels. (Instructor as of 2026.)

Tournaments & Events

West Woods is part of the City of Arvada's municipal golf system and regularly hosts tournaments, leagues, and group outings across its three courses. Private event bookings for the Bar & Grill can be arranged directly with the club.
