About the Course
Stoney Creek plays as a 9-hole executive layout with a mix of par-3 and par-4 holes, making it more strategically varied than a traditional par-3 short course. Designed by Tim Root and Larry Root and opened in 1998, the course rewards accuracy and short-game precision while remaining accessible to players of all levels. A typical round takes approximately 1.5 hours, making it ideal for a quick nine or back-to-back eighteen.
Course features:
- 9 holes, par-30 executive layout
- 3 par-4s and 6 par-3s
- 1,614 yards from the longest tees
- Designed by Tim Root and Larry Root (1998)
- Natural creek, brook, and water features
- Mature trees and a natural valley setting
- Mountain views throughout
- Driving range, putting green, and chipping green
- Pro shop with gear and equipment
- Tee times available up to 10 days in advance

The Playing Experience
Stoney Creek’s appeal is its setting as much as its layout. Tucked into a small valley, the course is free of road noise and surrounded by mature trees, water, and mountain views, with no neighboring houses to crowd the play. The executive layout’s mix of par-3s and par-4s makes it a genuine short-game test that’s quick to play and welcoming to every skill level, which is why it’s a local favorite for practice rounds, casual play, and relaxed group outings alike.

Golf Lessons & Instruction
As of 2026, Stoney Creek is home to instructor Ron Lohman, who has been teaching at the course for more than 18 years. Ron learned his craft from PGA professional Larry Root, a teaching pro for over 50 years, and carries forward Larry’s philosophy of working with each student’s natural ability and any physical limitations, adjusting the swing a little at a time rather than forcing a one-size-fits-all method. He uses video analysis in every lesson, so students see their swing frame by frame and gain confidence they’re working on the right improvements.
Ron offers structured private lesson packages for players of all ages and skill levels, from a single tune-up to multi-lesson series:
- Tune-Up, a single one-hour lesson to sharpen a specific part of your game
- Mini-Series, three one-hour lessons to improve a couple of areas
- Full-Series, six one-hour lessons for deeper, more comprehensive work
- Pro-Series, ten one-hour lessons covering all aspects of your game
Lessons can also be taken as a small group, with up to two additional students per session.
