Step by step
Running a volleyball event in Colorado? Here's how to plan it, pick a format and run it on Colorado Under Par, start to finish.
What it looks like
Colorado amateur volleyball runs indoors in rec center gyms during fall and winter and outdoors on sand courts in summer, with adult coed teams, youth clubs and charity tournaments.
Formats
- Indoor 6v6
- Six players per side rotate positions on a hard court.
- Beach / Sand 2v2
- Two players per side on sand, covering the whole court.
- 4v4
- Four players per side, indoors or on grass or sand.
- Single Elimination
- Teams are seeded into a bracket and a match loss ends their day.
- Double Elimination
- A team is out only after losing two matches.
- Round Robin
- Teams in a pool each play one another, often two sets per match.
- League
- Teams play a weekly match night over several weeks, with standings by matches or sets won and often a playoff night to finish.
- Serve Accuracy Bullseye
- Targets or towels sit in the back corners, and players earn points for serves that land on them. Quick to set up between matches.
- Buy a Do Over Serve
- Teams buy a few redo serve tickets before the tournament, with all money going to the cause. Simple, playful and adds funds fast.
- Spike Trophy and Medals
- Winners get a painted volleyball trophy, and a gag award goes to the best dive of the day. Pose both teams under the net for a group photo.
Build it
In the Organizer Dashboard, click Create event and pick volleyball and your format. Every tab, word and Start here guide then follows your sport.
Registration
In Registration, ask what you need from each entrant, like jersey number. Set a roster minimum and a roster lock date, and split team fees into two to four payments in Invoices if that helps teams sign up.
Results
Open Brackets and schedule. Pick the division, pool play or a bracket, your courts, the first game time and minutes per game. Each of your courts gets its own phone link for scores, and every score updates the bracket for everyone. Tick Post on the event page so players follow it live.
Event day
Teams check in and get court assignments, warm up with shared hitting time, play pool matches with teams taking turns refereeing, then bracket play leads to awards.
