Step by step
Running a softball event in Colorado? Here's how to plan it, pick a format and run it on Colorado Under Par, start to finish.
What it looks like
Colorado softball runs on park and complex fields from April through October, with adult slow pitch rec leagues, youth fast pitch travel teams and weekend charity tournaments.
Formats
- Slow Pitch
- Pitches are lobbed with a high arc, so most balls are hit.
- Fast Pitch
- Pitchers throw underhand at full speed, and stealing and bunting are allowed.
- Coed / Mixed
- Teams play with a required mix of men and women on the field and in the lineup.
- Single Elimination
- Teams play a bracket where one loss ends their tournament.
- Double Elimination
- Teams are out after two losses.
- Round Robin
- Every team in a group plays each other once.
- Pool Play → Bracket
- Teams play two or three pool games for seeding, then advance into an elimination bracket to decide the champion.
- Home Run Derby
- Batters get a set number of swings or outs to hit as many home runs as they can.
- League
- Teams play weekly games over a season, often weeknights, with standings and playoffs at the end.
- Home Run Derby
- Players donate for a few swings at the fence, with prizes for every home run. The crowd counts down each pitch.
- Buy an Extra Swing
- Players donate for one extra swing in a game. Cap it at one per game to keep play fair and fun.
- Game Ball Tradition
- The MVP of each game gets the game ball, signed by teammates. It becomes a keepsake and a tradition.
Build it
In the Organizer Dashboard, click Create event and pick softball and your format. Every tab, word and Start here guide then follows your sport.
Registration
In Registration, ask what you need from each entrant, like jersey number. Set a roster minimum and a roster lock date, and split team fees into two to four payments in Invoices if that helps teams sign up.
Results
Open Brackets and schedule. Pick the division, pool play or a bracket, your fields, the first game time and minutes per game. Each of your fields gets its own phone link for scores, and every score updates the bracket for everyone. Tick Post on the event page so players follow it live.
Event day
Team managers check in and exchange lineups, teams warm up, games run on assigned fields with umpires, then bracket play leads to a championship game and awards.
