Every way to run a softball event
Colorado softball runs on park and complex fields from April through October, with adult slow pitch rec leagues, youth fast pitch travel teams and weekend charity tournaments.
Slow Pitch
Pitches are lobbed with a high arc, so most balls are hit. Games often run 7 innings or a time limit, with home run limits for adult rec play.
Fast Pitch
Pitchers throw underhand at full speed, and stealing and bunting are allowed. Common for youth and competitive teams, usually 7 innings.
Coed / Mixed
Teams play with a required mix of men and women on the field and in the lineup. Set ratio and batting order rules at sign-up.
Single Elimination
Teams play a bracket where one loss ends their tournament. Use time limits so the bracket finishes the same day.
Double Elimination
Teams are out after two losses. Losers drop to a second bracket, and the two bracket winners meet in the final.
Round Robin
Every team in a group plays each other once. Rank by wins, then runs allowed or run differential.
Pool Play → Bracket
Teams play two or three pool games for seeding, then advance into an elimination bracket to decide the champion.
Home Run Derby
Batters get a set number of swings or outs to hit as many home runs as they can. Most home runs wins, often with a final round.
League
Teams play weekly games over a season, often weeknights, with standings and playoffs at the end.
Clinic, camp or lessons
Coaches teach hitting, fielding, throwing and pitching through drills. Group players by age and skill.
Social or open play
Pickup games where players are mixed into teams. Keep it casual, rotate positions and play a few innings.

Sponsor a Base
Businesses sponsor each base with a sign. Every run scored gets a shout out to the sponsors.
Throwback Uniform Day
Teams wear vintage uniforms or homemade designs. Award the best team look at the start of play.
Sponsored Seventh Inning Stretch
A sponsor leads a group stretch or dance between innings with a prize for the best moves. Fans stay on their feet.

After the final game, kids run the bases while players and fans cheer. Every child gets a high-five line.
Game Ball Tradition
The MVP of each game gets the game ball, signed by teammates. It becomes a keepsake and a tradition.
