Step by step
Running a powerlifting event in Colorado? Here's how to plan it, pick a format and run it on Colorado Under Par, start to finish.
What it looks like
Colorado strength meets are held at gyms and training centers year round, for beginners through experienced lifters, grouped by weight class, age and gender.
Formats
- Full Powerlifting
- Lifters get three attempts each on squat, bench press and deadlift.
- Bench Only
- Lifters get three bench press attempts, and the heaviest good lift counts.
- Deadlift Only
- Lifters get three deadlift attempts, and their heaviest good lift is their score.
- Push-Pull
- Lifters do bench press and deadlift, three attempts each.
- Olympic Weightlifting
- Lifters get three attempts each on the snatch and clean and jerk.
- Strongman
- Athletes compete in events like log press, farmers carry, yoke and stone loading.
- Max Rep Challenge
- Lifters do as many reps as possible at a set light weight, judged for good form. Spotters stay ready on every set.
- Pledge Per Pound
- Lifters collect pledges for every pound of their best total. Friends follow along as each lift counts.
- Best Lifter Trophy
- Award a trophy for the best lifter by bodyweight formula. Add a gag prize for the loudest grunt of the day.
Build it
In the Organizer Dashboard, click Create event and pick powerlifting and your format. Every tab, word and Start here guide then follows your sport.
Registration
Choose your team size and divisions, like raw, equipped and teen. In Registration, ask what you need from each entrant, like weight for weigh-in and federation number.
Results
Open Scores and results to enter each score, and totals rank automatically by division. Tick Post results so everyone can see the standings on the event page.
Event day
Lifters weigh in and submit openers, warm up in the back, lift in flights when called, three referees judge each attempt, then totals are added and awards are given by class. For weigh-ins, Check-in has a scale weight box under each competitor: green means they make their class, red shows how far over.
