Step by step

Running a motorsports event in Colorado? Here's how to plan it, pick a format and run it on Colorado Under Par, start to finish.

What it looks like

Amateur motorsports in Colorado run spring through fall at tracks, parking lots and private land, with car clubs, riders and drivers of all ages.

Formats

Motocross
Riders race dirt bikes on a closed track with jumps and turns, in classes by bike size, age and skill.
Off-Road / Hare Scramble
Riders race a long, marked off-road loop through trails and woods for a set time.
Autocross
Drivers run a cone course one at a time in a parking lot, racing the clock.
RallyCross
Drivers run a timed course on a dirt or gravel surface, one at a time.
Rally (Stage)
Drivers and co-drivers race timed stages on closed roads, going one at a time.
Drag Racing
Two cars or bikes race side by side down a straight strip.
Hill Climb
Drivers or riders race one at a time up a steep road or slope for the fastest time.
Karting
Drivers race karts on a closed track in classes by age and engine.
Time Attack / Track Day
Drivers lap a road course in run groups by experience, with optional timing.
Guess Your Lap Time
Drivers predict their lap time, and the closest guess wins, not the fastest. It rewards consistency and keeps every driver in the running.
Ride Along Raffle
Raffle off passenger laps with an experienced driver, with helmets and track approval. A Colorado raffle license may be needed.
Victory Lane Photo
Winners pose on a podium with a waving checkered flag and trophies. It gives every event a big finish and a great photo.

Build it

In the Organizer Dashboard, click Create event and pick motorsports and your format. Every tab, word and Start here guide then follows your sport.

Registration

In Registration, ask what you need from each entrant, like car or bike number and class.

Results

Open Course map and race info to upload a GPX file or draw the route, and pin the start, finish, water and parking. Bibs are automatic: set the first bib and every entrant gets the next number when they register. Time it with the phone finish line link, which works with no signal, or upload your timer's results file. Pick age groups and awards, and every entrant gets a results email when you post them.

Event day

Entrants check in, pass a tech inspection, attend a drivers meeting, run practice and racing sessions, then results and awards follow.

Fun ideas

Make it memorable. Three ideas people love. Guess Your Lap Time. Drivers predict their lap time, and the closest guess wins, not the fastest. It rewards consistency and keeps every driver in the running. Ride Along Raffle. Raffle off passenger laps with an experienced driver, with helmets and track approval. A Colorado raffle license may be needed. Victory Lane Photo. Winners pose on a podium with a waving checkered flag and trophies. It gives every event a big finish and a great photo.

One tip for first-timers: line up insurance, medical support and safety staff first, since venues will not approve an event without them.
