Every way to run a motorsports event
Amateur motorsports in Colorado run spring through fall at tracks, parking lots and private land, with car clubs, riders and drivers of all ages.
Motocross
Riders race dirt bikes on a closed track with jumps and turns, in classes by bike size, age and skill. Best combined finish over two motos wins.
Off-Road / Hare Scramble
Riders race a long, marked off-road loop through trails and woods for a set time. Most laps or best finishing position wins.
Autocross
Drivers run a cone course one at a time in a parking lot, racing the clock. Fastest single run, with cone penalties, wins in each class.
RallyCross
Drivers run a timed course on a dirt or gravel surface, one at a time. Lowest combined time over several runs wins.
Rally (Stage)
Drivers and co-drivers race timed stages on closed roads, going one at a time. Lowest total time across all stages wins.
Drag Racing
Two cars or bikes race side by side down a straight strip. Winners advance in elimination rounds, often with handicap brackets.
Hill Climb
Drivers or riders race one at a time up a steep road or slope for the fastest time. Best time in each class wins.
Karting
Drivers race karts on a closed track in classes by age and engine. Heat races and finals decide the winner.
Time Attack / Track Day
Drivers lap a road course in run groups by experience, with optional timing. Track days focus on learning, time attack on fastest lap.
Clinic, camp or lessons
Instructors teach car control, lines or riding skills in classroom and on-track sessions, often for new drivers or riders.
Social or open play
A casual meetup, practice day or show where people bring vehicles and drive or ride without official results.
Make it memorable
Fun motorsports event ideas
Side contests, fundraisers and traditions that people remember as much as the results.
Guess Your Lap Time
Drivers predict their lap time, and the closest guess wins, not the fastest. It rewards consistency and keeps every driver in the running.
Tire Change Challenge
Teams race to change a tire on a parked car while the clock runs. Staff supervise, and fans love watching the pit crew action.
Ride Along Raffle
Raffle off passenger laps with an experienced driver, with helmets and track approval. A Colorado raffle license may be needed.
Pledge Per Lap
Supporters pledge a set amount for every lap a driver completes. Drivers collect pledges ahead of time and race for every last lap.
Checkered Flag Theme
Fans and crews wear black and white checks and racing gear. The best look wins a prize during the podium ceremony.
Sponsor Decal Cars
Sponsors place their logos on cars or karts for the day. Their name crosses the finish line in every photo and video.
Kids Cockpit Photos
Park a few cars where kids can sit behind the wheel and pose for photos. Families line up, and kids talk about it for weeks.
Victory Lane Photo
Winners pose on a podium with a waving checkered flag and trophies. It gives every event a big finish and a great photo.
