Step by step
Running a field hockey event in Colorado? Here's how to plan it, pick a format and run it on Colorado Under Par, start to finish.
What it looks like
Colorado field hockey is played by youth clubs, high school players and adult teams on turf fields in fall and spring, with indoor play in winter.
Formats
- 11v11 Outdoor
- Standard full field games with ten field players and a goalie per side, in timed halves or quarters.
- Indoor (6v6)
- Played in a gym with side boards, five players and a goalie per side.
- Hockey5s (5v5)
- Small field games with five players per side, often no goalie and small goals.
- 7v7 Small-Side
- Games on a half field with seven players per side including a goalie.
- Pool Play + Bracket
- Teams play several pool games, then are seeded into playoff rounds.
- League
- Teams play weekly games over a season, with standings tracked and playoffs at the end.
- Penalty Stroke Shootout
- Players donate to take a penalty stroke against a volunteer goalie in full gear. Prizes go to anyone who scores.
- Sponsor a Goal
- Businesses pledge an amount for every goal scored in the tournament. The running total shows on a board at the field.
- Player of the Day Award
- Each team picks a player of the day who gets a special pin or patch. Add a fun award for the loudest bench.
Build it
In the Organizer Dashboard, click Create event and pick field hockey and your format. Every tab, word and Start here guide then follows your sport.
Registration
In Registration, ask what you need from each entrant, like jersey number. Set a roster minimum and a roster lock date, and split team fees into two to four payments in Invoices if that helps teams sign up.
Results
Open Brackets and schedule. Pick the division, pool play or a bracket, your fields, the first game time and minutes per game. Each of your fields gets its own phone link for scores, and every score updates the bracket for everyone. Tick Post on the event page so players follow it live.
Event day
Teams check in, warm up on assigned fields, play scheduled games with umpires, then playoffs lead to a final and awards.
