Step by step

Running a billiards event in Colorado? Here's how to plan it, pick a format and run it on Colorado Under Par, start to finish.

What it looks like

Pool events in Colorado are year-round bar and pool hall tournaments and leagues, with players of all levels, often handicapped to keep matches close.

Formats

8-Ball
Players pick solids or stripes, clear their group, then sink the 8-ball to win.
9-Ball
Players must hit the lowest numbered ball first, and sinking the 9-ball wins the game.
Scotch Doubles
Two partners alternate shots on the same table.
Singles Bracket
One player against another in a single or double elimination bracket, often handicapped so all levels compete.
10-Ball
Like 9-ball with ten balls, and players must call their shots.
Straight Pool (14.1)
Players call each ball and pocket, scoring a point per ball, and racks are reset as play goes on.
League
Teams or players meet weekly at the same venue, with handicaps and standings over a season.
Trick Shot Contest
Players set up their best trick shots and the crowd votes on the winner. It is the most watched part of the night.
Ball in Hand Tokens
Players buy a token for one ball in hand during a match. It raises easy money and adds strategy to close games.
Scratch King Award
The player who scratches the most takes home a gag crown. It always gets laughs and makes a great photo.

Build it

In the Organizer Dashboard, click Create event and pick billiards and your format. Every tab, word and Start here guide then follows your sport.

Registration

Organizers usually ask for skill level or handicap, partner name for doubles and preferred game.

Results

Open Brackets and schedule. Pick the division, pool play or a bracket, your tables, the first game time and minutes per game. Each of your tables gets its own phone link for scores, and every score updates the bracket for everyone. Tick Post on the event page so players follow it live.

Event day

Players check in, get table assignments, play their bracket matches and report results, then finals and prizes are awarded.
