Step by step

Running a baseball event in Colorado? Here's how to plan it, pick a format and run it on Colorado Under Par, start to finish.

What it looks like

Colorado amateur baseball ranges from youth rec leagues and travel tournaments to adult men's leagues, played on park and school diamonds from April through August.

Formats

Tee-ball
For ages 4 to 6, batters hit the ball off a stationary tee.
Coach-pitch
A coach from the batting team pitches softly to young hitters, usually ages 6 to 8.
Machine-pitch
A pitching machine throws steady pitches to young batters, usually ages 7 to 9, so every hitter sees the same speed.
Kid-pitch
Players pitch to each other under normal rules, usually from age 9 up.
Single Elimination
Teams are seeded into a bracket and a loss ends a team's run.
Double Elimination
A team is out only after two losses.
Round Robin
Every team plays each other team once.
Pool Play → Bracket
Teams play two or three pool games for seeding, then advance into an elimination bracket.
Home Run Derby
Each hitter gets a set number of outs or a time limit to hit as many home runs as possible.
League
Teams play a weekly schedule over a season, with standings tracked by wins and losses and often a playoff at the end.
Home Run Derby
Hitters get a set number of swings against a coach pitch, and fans vote on the best bat flip. A great opener before the main games.
Sponsor a Strikeout
Supporters pledge a dollar amount for every strikeout pitchers throw during the event. Announce the running total over the speaker between innings.
Golden Glove Gag Award
A painted old glove goes to the best defensive play of the day, and a bent spoon goes to the funniest blooper. Both make great photos.

Build it

In the Organizer Dashboard, click Create event and pick baseball and your format. Every tab, word and Start here guide then follows your sport.

Registration

In Registration, ask what you need from each entrant, like jersey number. Set a roster minimum and a roster lock date, and split team fees into two to four payments in Invoices if that helps teams sign up.

Results

Open Brackets and schedule. Pick the division, pool play or a bracket, your fields, the first game time and minutes per game. Each of your fields gets its own phone link for scores, and every score updates the bracket for everyone. Tick Post on the event page so players follow it live.

Event day

Coaches check in rosters and confirm field assignments, teams warm up in the outfield, umpires run games on a schedule, and the champion receives a trophy at the end.

Fun ideas

Make it memorable. Three ideas people love. Home Run Derby. Hitters get a set number of swings against a coach pitch, and fans vote on the best bat flip. A great opener before the main games. Sponsor a Strikeout. Supporters pledge a dollar amount for every strikeout pitchers throw during the event. Announce the running total over the speaker between innings. Golden Glove Gag Award. A painted old glove goes to the best defensive play of the day, and a bent spoon goes to the funniest blooper. Both make great photos.

Tip

One tip for first-timers: book umpires early and set a time limit per game, since long innings are the usual reason a tournament schedule falls behind. Building is free, then 1% per paid order plus card processing, paid to your own Stripe account. Stuck? Ask Caddie or search Need help in your dashboard. Start at coloradounderpar.com/sell-tickets.
