Venue Overview

Sky Ranch Golf Club is a public, 18-hole golf course in Sterling, Colorado, and the oldest golf course in northeastern Colorado, one of the first five courses established anywhere in the state. Founded in 1916 as Sterling Country Club, the course was designed by Henry B. Hughes and opened in 1921, playing to a par of 72 across 6,434 yards.

About the Course

Sky Ranch’s century-plus history makes it a genuine piece of Colorado golf lore. Henry B. Hughes’ 1921 design plays across a course rating of 69.2 and a slope of 119, with thick stands of mature trees framing rolling fairways and challenging greens. Water comes into play on nine of the eighteen holes, creating both strategic variety and a picturesque backdrop that has held up across more than a century of play. Multiple tee boxes on every hole give golfers of all ages and abilities a way to take on the course at their own level.

A Century of Colorado Golf History

Few Colorado courses can claim the kind of history Sky Ranch holds. Established in 1916 and opened for play in 1921, the course has been part of the fabric of northeastern Colorado golf for more than a hundred years, predating the vast majority of courses along the Front Range. Its mature tree-lined fairways and well-established character reflect that century of continuous play, giving golfers a genuinely historic round in a part of the state not typically associated with golf tourism.
