Planning a visit to Riverview Golf Course? Below you will find course details, amenities, and upcoming tournaments and events hosted at this course, plus everything you need to know before you tee off.

Venue Overview

Riverview Golf Course is a semi-private 18-hole golf course in Sterling, Colorado, widely regarded as one of the premier golf destinations in northeastern Colorado. Designed by Val Heim and opened in 1980, the course plays to a par of 71 across 6,466 championship yards, with a slope of 126 and a rating of 69.6, and has been voted the best golf course in Northeast Colorado for 15 consecutive years.

About the Course

Riverview Golf Course stands out on Colorado's Eastern Plains as a full 18-hole championship layout in a region dominated by smaller 9-hole community courses. Designed and long overseen by Val Heim Jr., a PGA of America member based in Sterling for decades, the course established a reputation for quality conditioning and thoughtful design that has kept it the top-rated golf destination in northeastern Colorado for 15 straight years. Today, the course and its associated pro shop operations are run by Brent and Jessica Fiscus of Plainsview Golf, Inc., who continue the tradition of quality golf that Heim built the club's reputation on.

Practice Facilities

Riverview Golf Course offers a driving range along with rental clubs and rental carts, giving golfers a full complement of practice options before teeing off on the championship-length layout.

Dining and Amenities

Riverview Golf Course operates year-round, welcoming golfers with an open guest policy and tee times available throughout the season. The course accepts major credit cards and allows metal spikes, and its full-service pro shop supports golfers of all experience levels playing the 18-hole layout. Three distinct tee sets, from a 5,032-yard forward tee to the 6,466-yard championship tee, allow golfers of every skill level to find an appropriate challenge on the course.

Lessons & Instruction

Riverview Golf Course was designed and long operated by Val Heim Jr., a confirmed PGA of America member based in Sterling, though PGA of America's directory currently lists his membership as a retired Life Member rather than an active teaching position. After a thorough search, no current actively teaching PGA professional could be confirmed for the facility under its present ownership. Golfers seeking formal lessons should check with the pro shop directly for current instruction availability.

Tournaments & Events

Riverview Golf Course hosts golfers from across northeastern Colorado and beyond, drawing on its 15-year reputation as the region's top-rated course. Its full 18-hole championship layout makes it a strong venue for larger tournaments and multi-flight events that smaller 9-hole courses in the region cannot accommodate. The course draws players from across the South Platte River Valley and beyond, cementing its status as a true destination course for the region.

Planning Your Event Here

Riverview Golf Course's championship 18-hole layout, decades of regional acclaim, and full-service pro shop make it one of the strongest tournament venues on Colorado's Eastern Plains. Its size and reputation make it especially well suited to larger corporate outings, charity tournaments, and multi-day golf events drawing players from across the region.

Apply for Event Management

Event Management Application (2027)
CUP manages 10 sporting events per season, and that is the cap.
Applications for the 2027 season are reviewed starting October 1, 2026. Returning clients confirm their dates first, then remaining slots go to new clients. This is an application, not a booking, and it takes about 6 minutes.

Your organization

Who is hosting, and how we reach you.

Beneficiary

Only if the event raises money for a cause.

Your sporting event

The basics we need to judge fit.

Out-of-state note: our standard pricing covers events held in Colorado. Events outside Colorado are quoted individually with travel and on-site costs included.
Worth knowing before you submit: our fully-managed service starts at 100 people on site. Below that the economics do not work for either of us, so this is likely not a fit. You can still apply, and you can always list your sporting event on the CUP calendar instead.
This one gets a custom quote. Our standard service model covers single-day events with 100 to 160 people on site, including vendors. Larger fields and multi-day events still work, we just scope them and send a custom quote instead of a standard price.

What success looks like

So we can tell you straight whether we are the right team.

Budget and timing

Fully-managed service is a real line item. Straight answers save us both time.

A CUP engagement runs roughly 150 to 200 hours of planning, design, marketing and coordination, handled by one team from the first call to the final award. Applications need a real budget line for professional management, separate from venue, food and prizes.
Worth knowing before you submit: a fully-managed engagement sits above this range, so this is likely not a fit for 2027. You are welcome to apply anyway. If self-serve is the better move right now, you can list your sporting event and add promotion here: list your event.
