Legacy Ridge Golf Course is a public, 18-hole golf course in Westminster, Colorado, owned and operated by the City of Westminster. Designed by noted architect Arthur Hills and opened in 1994, Legacy Ridge plays as a Colorado-style Scottish links layout across rolling terrain with views of the Front Range to the west and the plains stretching east — a combination that helped it earn a spot on Golf Digest's list of America's Top 75 Affordable Courses in 1996.

About the Course

Arthur Hills routed Legacy Ridge across open, rolling terrain in a deliberately Scottish links style, with wide fairways, generous landing areas, and large greens designed to challenge better players while remaining approachable for higher handicappers. Four sets of tees on every hole let the course stretch from 7,157 yards at the championship tees down to 5,315 yards from the forward tees, giving Legacy Ridge real range for golfers of any level. As one of Westminster's two municipal courses (alongside Walnut Creek Golf Preserve), Legacy Ridge has hosted Colorado Golf Association championships and qualifiers over the years.

Legacy Ridge earned early national recognition when Golf Digest ranked it 16th on its list of America's Top 75 Affordable Courses in 1996, just two years after opening — a distinction that has helped anchor its reputation as one of the better public tests of golf in the northwest Denver metro. As a City of Westminster facility, Legacy Ridge operates alongside Walnut Creek Golf Preserve as part of Westminster's municipal golf program, giving the city two distinct public courses under one instructional and operational umbrella.

Lessons & Instruction

Golf instruction at Legacy Ridge is provided through the City of Westminster's partnership with Trent Wearner Golf Academy, rated the only golf instruction establishment in Colorado named a Best Golf School in the U.S. by Golf Digest. As of 2026, coaches teaching regularly at Legacy Ridge include:

• Maggie Hartman, PGA — leads adult group clinics and the popular "Ladies Chip & Sip" short-game socials at Legacy Ridge
• Travis Morton — coaches adult and group programs at Legacy Ridge and Walnut Creek
• Dana Smith — coaches at Legacy Ridge, Walnut Creek, and Westminster's indoor training facilities
