Venue Overview

Perched along the Palmer Divide between Denver and Colorado Springs, King's Deer Golf Club is an 18-hole championship, links-style course known for rolling fairways, dramatic elevation change, and sweeping views of Pikes Peak and the southern Front Range. Opened in 1999, King's Deer has earned a reputation over more than two decades for well-maintained conditions, a quiet, upscale atmosphere, and some of the best sightlines of any public course in the Monument-Colorado Springs corridor. The course anchors the King's Deer master-planned community, giving it a peaceful, residential backdrop distinct from busier Front Range munis.

About the Course

  • Designed and built by Redstone Golf Group, opening to acclaim in 1999
  • 18-hole championship, links-style layout stretching to 6,711 yards from the Gold tees
  • Gold tees play to a course rating of 72.2 and slope of 135; Blue tees rate 70.3/124, White tees 67.1/120, and Red tees 70.0/129, giving golfers of every level an appropriate challenge
  • Set atop the Palmer Divide at nearly 7,350 feet of elevation, giving golfers extra carry distance and panoramic sightlines to Pikes Peak
  • A public, non-private course open to golfers of all skill levels year-round, weather permitting
  • Located at the King's Deer master-planned community in Monument, midway between Denver and Colorado Springs off Interstate 25
  • Rolling, links-inspired fairways and strategic bunkering reward accurate shot placement over pure length

Practice Facilities

King's Deer's driving range sits atop the Palmer Divide, pairing a proper warm-up with sweeping views of the Front Range that match the course itself, and an extensive practice green helps golfers dial in short-game distances and read greens before their round. The elevated setting means golfers can see much of the course layout from the range, making it easy to get a feel for the day's wind and conditions before teeing off. The high-altitude location also means golf balls travel noticeably farther than at sea level, something the practice facility helps golfers dial in before their round begins.

Lessons & Instruction

  • Jeff Kelly, PGA — General Manager, overseeing golf operations, instruction, and the club's day-to-day experience
  • Jake Mally — Head Golf Professional, leading the on-course teaching program and pro shop operations
Both members of the King's Deer leadership team bring PGA-level expertise to the club's instructional offerings, giving golfers of all skill levels access to structured lessons and swing guidance alongside the club's tee-time and outing services. The pro shop staff also assists with club recommendations suited to the course's altitude and links-style demands.

Dining and Amenities

The clubhouse is home to the Troon Tavern, a full-service restaurant known for hearty fare like breakfast burritos and bison brats alongside a broader menu of pub favorites. Indoor and outdoor seating overlook the golf course and the southern Front Range, with views stretching to Pikes Peak, making the Tavern a popular stop for golfers and non-golfers alike. Beyond daily dining, the Tavern regularly hosts private celebrations — bridal and baby showers, anniversaries, birthdays, retirements, and weddings — with menus scaled to fit a range of budgets.

Tournaments & Events

King's Deer hosts a full calendar of private group outings and tournaments each year, including four-person scramble formats with men playing from the Blue tees and women from the White tees. The course is also a regular rotation stop for the Pikes Peak Women Golfers, a Tuesday women's league that plays courses across the Front Range. The club's banquet and outing team works with corporate groups, charities, and social organizations to build custom tournament formats around the course's links-style layout, and the Troon Tavern's banquet space allows outings to pair a round of golf with a full sit-down reception on site.

Planning Your Event Here

With the Troon Tavern's banquet space, a driving range framed by Front Range views, and an 18-hole championship layout suited to everything from member-guest events to charity scrambles, King's Deer Golf Club offers a scenic, full-service setting for tournaments and outings between Denver and Colorado Springs.

Apply for Event Management

Event Management Application (2027)
CUP manages 10 sporting events per season, and that is the cap.
Applications for the 2027 season are reviewed starting October 1, 2026. Returning clients confirm their dates first, then remaining slots go to new clients. This is an application, not a booking, and it takes about 6 minutes.

Your organization

Who is hosting, and how we reach you.

Beneficiary

Only if the event raises money for a cause.

Your sporting event

The basics we need to judge fit.

Out-of-state note: our standard pricing covers events held in Colorado. Events outside Colorado are quoted individually with travel and on-site costs included.
Worth knowing before you submit: our fully-managed service starts at 100 people on site. Below that the economics do not work for either of us, so this is likely not a fit. You can still apply, and you can always list your sporting event on the CUP calendar instead.
This one gets a custom quote. Our standard service model covers single-day events with 100 to 160 people on site, including vendors. Larger fields and multi-day events still work, we just scope them and send a custom quote instead of a standard price.

What success looks like

So we can tell you straight whether we are the right team.

Budget and timing

Fully-managed service is a real line item. Straight answers save us both time.

A CUP engagement runs roughly 150 to 200 hours of planning, design, marketing and coordination, handled by one team from the first call to the final award. Applications need a real budget line for professional management, separate from venue, food and prizes.
Worth knowing before you submit: a fully-managed engagement sits above this range, so this is likely not a fit for 2027. You are welcome to apply anyway. If self-serve is the better move right now, you can list your sporting event and add promotion here: list your event.
