Highland Hills Golf Course is a public, 18-hole golf course in Greeley, Colorado, designed by architect Frank Hummel and opened in 1959. Playing to a par of 71 across 6,723 yards from the longest tees, the traditional, tree-lined layout has served Northern Colorado as one of the region's top championship golf courses since 1964. Owned and operated by the City of Greeley, Highland Hills has hosted the Men's and Women's State Stroke Play Championship, High School State Championships, and the Big I Junior State Championships in recent years.

About the Course

Frank Hummel's traditional design at Highland Hills winds through more than 1,300 trees across undulating terrain, giving golfers of every skill level an enjoyable and genuinely challenging round. Opened in 1959 and established as one of Northern Colorado's top championship venues by 1964, the course has spent more than six decades hosting statewide championship golf, from the Men's and Women's State Stroke Play Championship to High School State Championships and the Big I Junior State Championships. That championship pedigree continues today: the Highland Hills Amateur returns each summer as a 36-hole stroke play championship with Championship, Senior, and handicap flights, open to any amateur golfer with a current USGA World Handicap Index.

Six Decades of Championship Golf

Few public courses in Colorado can claim the tournament resume Highland Hills has built since opening in 1959. Lessons & Instruction

Instruction at Highland Hills is led by golf instructor Mike Maestas, known locally as “Coach Mike.” Part of the City of Greeley golf program, he offers lessons for players of all ages and skill levels, including work with junior golfers. (Instructor as of 2026.)
