Venue Overview

The Golf Club at Fox Acres is a scenic 18-hole course tucked into the mountains near Red Feather Lakes, Colorado, at 8,300 feet elevation. Once an exclusive private retreat, Fox Acres has opened its course to the public while still offering membership programs for golfers who want a recurring home in the high country. Designed by John Cochran, the course winds through rock outcroppings, ponderosa pines, and 15 pristine lakes, giving it a setting unlike anything else in northern Colorado. Its Stay & Play lodging and clubhouse amenities make it a genuine mountain golf getaway rather than just a round of golf, and its recent shift to public access opens up a course that was, for decades, reserved for members only.

About the Course

Fox Acres spans nearly 6,500 yards across holes with names like "Moose Crossing" and "Sleeping Elephants," reflecting the wildlife and terrain that shape the round. Fifteen lakes and 50 sand traps come into play throughout the layout, and the high-altitude setting among rock formations and pines gives the course a rugged, secluded character. A collared-shirt dress code and no-denim policy preserve the club's traditional country club atmosphere even as tee times have opened to public play. Public golfers now have the chance to experience a layout that was carefully shaped around the property's natural lakes and granite outcroppings rather than built over them.

Practice Facilities

Fox Acres offers a scenic driving range for golfers to warm up before their round, taking advantage of the same mountain views that frame the course itself. The practice facilities give golfers a chance to adjust to the course's high-altitude ball flight before heading to the first tee.

Dining and Amenities

Golfers can extend their visit with Fox Acres' on-site lodging, including guest rooms with two queen beds or one king, a mini-fridge, microwave, and coffee maker, plus access to a fitness center and private balconies. The Fox Den offers a shared community space with a full kitchen, large TV, and a deck with a propane grill, and is also available for private rental. Optional social membership provides access to the clubhouse, restaurant, six rounds of golf, fishing, and tennis for an additional annual fee. Membership is required for fishing in the club's 13 stocked lakes, home to rainbow, brown, brook, and cutthroat trout, and described by The Denver Post as one of the "four last, best places in Colorado."

Lessons & Instruction

The Golf Club at Fox Acres does not have a named PGA teaching professional on staff. Golfers looking for lessons are encouraged to contact the golf shop directly for current instruction options and recommendations in the Red Feather Lakes area, particularly ahead of a visit during the club's peak summer season.

Tournaments & Events

Fox Acres' individual, couple, family, and corporate membership programs create a natural base for club tournaments and member events throughout the golf season. The course's dramatic mountain scenery, lake-dotted layout, and Stay & Play lodging also make it a compelling setting for outside groups looking for a multi-day golf retreat rather than a single round.

Planning Your Event Here

Between its 18-hole mountain course, 16 Stay & Play guest rooms, and the private Fox Den gathering space, Fox Acres is well suited to group outings that combine golf with an overnight retreat. Corporate groups, member-sponsored tournaments, and multi-day golf getaways can all be arranged through the club, with lodging and clubhouse access available to round out the experience. Contact the golf shop to check availability and discuss group rates.

Apply for Event Management

Event Management Application (2027)
CUP manages 10 sporting events per season, and that is the cap.
Applications for the 2027 season are reviewed starting October 1, 2026. Returning clients confirm their dates first, then remaining slots go to new clients. This is an application, not a booking, and it takes about 6 minutes.

Your organization

Who is hosting, and how we reach you.

Beneficiary

Only if the event raises money for a cause.

Your sporting event

The basics we need to judge fit.

Out-of-state note: our standard pricing covers events held in Colorado. Events outside Colorado are quoted individually with travel and on-site costs included.
Worth knowing before you submit: our fully-managed service starts at 100 people on site. Below that the economics do not work for either of us, so this is likely not a fit. You can still apply, and you can always list your sporting event on the CUP calendar instead.
This one gets a custom quote. Our standard service model covers single-day events with 100 to 160 people on site, including vendors. Larger fields and multi-day events still work, we just scope them and send a custom quote instead of a standard price.

What success looks like

So we can tell you straight whether we are the right team.

Budget and timing

Fully-managed service is a real line item. Straight answers save us both time.

A CUP engagement runs roughly 150 to 200 hours of planning, design, marketing and coordination, handled by one team from the first call to the final award. Applications need a real budget line for professional management, separate from venue, food and prizes.
Worth knowing before you submit: a fully-managed engagement sits above this range, so this is likely not a fit for 2027. You are welcome to apply anyway. If self-serve is the better move right now, you can list your sporting event and add promotion here: list your event.
