Venue Overview

Evergreen Golf Course is a historic public mountain golf course in Evergreen, Colorado, often called Denver's mountain jewel. Set at 7,220 feet along Bear Creek near the shores of Evergreen Lake, this roughly century-old, 18-hole executive course is a true throwback, rolling up and down the mountain through stands of ponderosa pine with scenic views from nearly every tee and frequent visits from the local elk. Owned by Denver Mountain Parks and operated by City of Denver Golf, it offers affordable, genuinely different mountain golf just 30 to 45 minutes from the city, plus the popular Syd's On The Green restaurant, making it a scenic and welcoming spot for a round, a group outing, or an easy mountain escape.

About the Course

Evergreen Golf Course is an 18-hole, par-69 executive course set at 7,220 feet along Bear Creek in the Front Range foothills. A classic that has been played for roughly a century, it winds up and down hilly, forested terrain with tight fairways, small greens, and plenty of character. Owned by Denver Mountain Parks and part of the City of Denver Golf rotation, it is open to the public. Course features: 18-hole, par-69 executive mountain course Set at 7,220 feet along Bear Creek, near Evergreen Lake A roughly century-old classic, a true throwback mountain layout Hilly, forested terrain with fairways lined by ponderosa pines Tight fairways and small greens that demand accuracy Well-bunkered, with water in play on three holes Frequent wildlife, including elk, deer, and foxes Scenic mountain views from nearly every tee, open year-round

The Playing Experience

Evergreen Golf Course is a throwback to another era of golf, and that is exactly its charm. The layout works its way up and down the mountain and through the forest, with plenty of doglegs, blind shots, and short, drivable par 4s that often play more like par 3s. The terrain is hilly and the lies can be anything but flat, so keeping the ball in play on the tight, pine-lined fairways is essential, and the small greens ask you to be precise, hit it straight and do not go long. It is walkable, but the hills make it a genuine workout. What golfers remember most, though, is the setting: Bear Creek, towering ponderosa pines, panoramic mountain views, and the very real chance of pausing your round for an elk crossing. Affordable and unlike anything on the Front Range flats, it is a mountain round worth the short drive.

Amenities & Dining

Evergreen keeps things simple and scenic: A practice putting green A pro shop with men's and women's rental club sets Syd's On The Green restaurant, with patio dining overlooking the course and Evergreen Lake Year-round play, weather permitting Note that as a compact mountain course, Evergreen does not have a driving range, so plan to warm up on the putting green.

Planning Your Event Here

Evergreen Golf Course works well for organizers who want an affordable, scenic, and genuinely different mountain course for a casual group round or outing, all just 30 to 45 minutes from Denver in the heart of the foothills. Its hilly, walkable layout and unbeatable scenery make for a memorable day, and Syd's On The Green is a great spot to gather afterward. Event availability and arrangements are coordinated through City of Denver Golf, which operates the course.

Lessons & Instruction

Instruction at Evergreen is led by PGA Head Professional Joseph “Joe” Herbert. Private lessons at this scenic foothills course are arranged through the golf shop. (Instructor as of 2026.)

Apply for Event Management

Event Management Application (2027)
CUP manages 10 sporting events per season, and that is the cap.
Applications for the 2027 season are reviewed starting October 1, 2026. Returning clients confirm their dates first, then remaining slots go to new clients. This is an application, not a booking, and it takes about 6 minutes.

Your organization

Who is hosting, and how we reach you.

Beneficiary

Only if the event raises money for a cause.

Your sporting event

The basics we need to judge fit.

Out-of-state note: our standard pricing covers events held in Colorado. Events outside Colorado are quoted individually with travel and on-site costs included.
Worth knowing before you submit: our fully-managed service starts at 100 people on site. Below that the economics do not work for either of us, so this is likely not a fit. You can still apply, and you can always list your sporting event on the CUP calendar instead.
This one gets a custom quote. Our standard service model covers single-day events with 100 to 160 people on site, including vendors. Larger fields and multi-day events still work, we just scope them and send a custom quote instead of a standard price.

What success looks like

So we can tell you straight whether we are the right team.

Budget and timing

Fully-managed service is a real line item. Straight answers save us both time.

A CUP engagement runs roughly 150 to 200 hours of planning, design, marketing and coordination, handled by one team from the first call to the final award. Applications need a real budget line for professional management, separate from venue, food and prizes.
Worth knowing before you submit: a fully-managed engagement sits above this range, so this is likely not a fit for 2027. You are welcome to apply anyway. If self-serve is the better move right now, you can list your sporting event and add promotion here: list your event.
