Every way to run a ultimate frisbee event
Colorado ultimate events are coed rec leagues and weekend tournaments on grass park fields spring through fall, plus some beach and indoor play, run by player volunteers.
7v7 Standard
Seven players per side pass a flying disc to score in the end zone. Games go to a point cap or time cap, and players call their own fouls.
Mixed / Coed
Teams field a set ratio of men and women on the line, often four and three, with the ratio rule set before each point.
Hat Tournament
Players sign up individually and are placed onto balanced teams, often by drawing names from a hat. It is a social way to meet new players.
Beach (5v5)
Five players per side on sand with a smaller field. Games are usually shorter and have fewer stoppages.
5v5 Small-Side
Five per side on a smaller field, ideal for fewer players. Play is fast with more touches per player.
Pool Play + Bracket
Teams play several pool games for seeding, then move into an elimination bracket to decide the champion.
League
Teams play a weekly game over a season, often coed, with standings by wins and a playoff at the end.
Clinic, camp or lessons
Coaches teach throwing, catching, cutting, defense and the self-officiating rules through drills and scrimmages.
Social or open play
Pickup games where players show up, split into even teams and play casually.

Disc Through the Hoop
Players throw discs through a hanging hoop from longer and longer distances. The last thrower still hitting wins a new disc.
Longest Pull Contest
Players see who can throw the longest pull down a measured field, with flags marking each landing. Simple, loud and easy to watch.
Pledge Per Point Scored
Supporters pledge a small amount for every point a team scores all weekend. Teams post their totals on a board at the field.
Sponsor a Spirit Prize
Businesses sponsor the spirit award prize pack for each division, with their name read at awards. It ties the sponsor to good sportsmanship.
Costume Spirit Saturday
Teams pick a theme like superheroes, animals or decades and play a round in costume. Best team costume wins a prize and the group photo spot.
Sponsor Shade and Water Tent
A sponsor hosts a shaded tent with water, fruit and sunscreen at midfield. Players and families gather there between games all day.
Kids Soft Disc Clinic
Young kids learn backhands and catches with soft discs while parents watch. A friendly way to grow the next wave of players.
