Every way to run a table tennis event
Colorado table tennis events are held at clubs, rec centers and community gyms year round, with players from juniors to seniors entering by rating or skill level.
Singles
One player against one, usually best of five games to 11, winning by two. Serves switch every two points.
Doubles
Two players per side take turns hitting the ball in strict order. Serves go diagonally, and games are to 11.
Round Robin
Players are placed in small groups and play everyone in their group. Match wins decide the order, often feeding a later bracket.
Single Elimination
Players are seeded into a bracket and a match loss ends their run. Winners advance until one player wins the final.
Mixed Doubles
Each team has one man and one woman, playing standard doubles rules with alternating hits.
Teams
Teams of two to four players face off in a series of singles and doubles matches. The team that wins the most matches wins the tie.
League
Players or teams meet weekly over a season, with match results tracked in standings and sometimes ratings.
Clinic, camp or lessons
A coach teaches grip, strokes, serves and footwork through drills, often with robot or multiball practice.
Social or open play
Players drop in, rotate onto open tables and play casual games without standings.
