Every way to run a racquetball event
Racquetball events in Colorado are indoor club tournaments and leagues held year round at fitness centers and rec centers, with singles and doubles players.
Singles
One player against another in a four-wall court. Matches are best of three games to 15, with a tiebreaker game to 11.
Doubles
Two-player teams share the court, alternating rallies. Matches are best of three games to 15, with a tiebreaker to 11.
Mixed Doubles
Teams are one man and one woman, playing the standard doubles format. Divisions are split by skill level.
Round Robin
Players are grouped into pools and everyone plays everyone in their pool. Most wins, then points, decide the winner.
Single Elimination
Players are seeded into a bracket, and a single loss means they are out. The last player standing wins.
Double Elimination
Players drop to a second bracket after one loss and are out after two. Guarantees at least two matches.
League
Players meet weekly for scheduled matches against others at similar levels, with standings over a season.
Clinic, camp or lessons
A coach teaches serves, shot selection and court position, then players drill and play short games.
Social or open play
Open court time where players rotate in for casual games and mix partners.
Make it memorable
Fun racquetball event ideas
Side contests, fundraisers and traditions that people remember as much as the results.
Kill Shot Target
Tape a small target low on the front wall, and every hit wins a prize. Players line up between matches for one more try.
Off Hand Rally
Players rally using only their non dominant hand, and the longest rally wins. It levels the field and gets big laughs.
Pledge Per Point
Supporters pledge a set amount for every point their player scores. Every rally matters, and friends watch through the glass to cheer.
Court Time Auction
Auction off private lessons, court time packages and new racquets. Players bid on things they will actually use all year.
Retro Sweatband Day
Players wear headbands, wristbands and short shorts in a nod to the old days. The best retro look wins a prize at the awards.
Glass Wall Decals
Sponsors place removable decals on the glass back walls. Spectators and players see the logo with every match.
Family Doubles Round
Pair parents and kids in a short doubles round with friendly rules. Families watch from the glass and cheer every shot.
Floor Burn Award
The player with the most dives earns a gag trophy for effort. It celebrates hustle and always gets a laugh at the awards.
