Every way to run a kickball event
Adult kickball is a social rec favorite in Colorado parks and softball fields from spring through fall, with coed teams, charity tournaments and plenty of after-game gatherings.
Pool Play + Bracket
Teams play two or three pool games, then are seeded into an elimination bracket. The bracket winner is champion, and every team gets several games.
Round Robin
Every team in a group plays each other once, usually in short timed or five inning games. Best record wins, with run differential breaking ties.
Single Elimination
Teams play a bracket and one loss sends them home. It finishes quickly, so keep games to a set number of innings or a time cap.
Double Elimination
Teams are out after two losses. Losers drop to a second bracket, and the two bracket winners meet in the final.
Coed
Teams play with a required mix of men and women on the field and in the kicking order. Set clear ratio rules before sign-up.
League
Teams play weekly games over a season, often on weeknights. Standings track wins, with playoffs at season end.
Clinic, camp or lessons
Organizers teach kicking, fielding, base running and basic rules, then play a practice game. Great for new teams or youth groups.
Social or open play
Pickup games where players are mixed into teams on arrival. Keep score casually, play a few innings and rotate teams.
Make it memorable
Fun kickball event ideas
Side contests, fundraisers and traditions that people remember as much as the results.
Longest Kick Contest
Players line up to boot the ball as far as they can, with distances marked by cones. Longest kick wins a prize and the crowd's respect.
Bullseye Pitch Challenge
Players roll the ball at a target painted near home plate. Closest roll wins, and it gives pitchers their own moment.
Buy a Do Over
Teams donate for one extra kick when they foul out. Cap it at one per game to keep play fair and fun.
Sponsor a Base
Businesses sponsor first, second, third and home with signs at each base. Every run scored gets a shout out to the sponsors.
Field Day Costumes
Teams dress in matching themes, like superheroes, gym class uniforms or 80s gear. Best team look wins a trophy.
Sponsored Seventh Inning Stretch
A sponsor leads a group dance or stretch between innings with a small prize for the best moves. It keeps fans on their feet.
Family Kick Off
Before the final, kids and parents play a short inning together. Everyone gets a turn to kick and run the bases.
Golden Ball Trophy
Spray paint a kickball gold and mount it as the champion trophy. Each winning team signs it and passes it on next year.
For organizers
