Every way to run a crossfit event
Functional fitness competitions in Colorado are gym-hosted throwdowns and charity workouts held year round, with athletes of all ages and levels.
Individual RX
Athletes compete solo using the full prescribed weights and movements. Points from each workout are added, and the lowest point total wins.
Individual Scaled
Solo division with lighter weights and simpler movements, so newer athletes can compete. Scored like RX.
Partner (2-Person)
Two athletes share the work in each workout, splitting reps or moving together. Team placement in each workout earns points.
Team / Affiliate
Teams of three or more, often from one gym, complete workouts together. Placement across workouts earns points toward a team winner.
Throwdown / Open WOD
A friendly in-house or local event where athletes complete a set workout, often in heats, and scores are posted to a leaderboard.
Masters / Teens
Age-group divisions for older adults and teens, with adjusted weights and movements. Scored separately from open divisions.
Clinic, camp or lessons
A coach teaches lifting, gymnastics or conditioning skills, with drills and feedback for each athlete.
Social or open play
A community workout open to all, where people work out together in a casual setting.
Make it memorable
Fun crossfit event ideas
Side contests, fundraisers and traditions that people remember as much as the results.
Max Burpee Minute
See who can do the most burpees in one minute. The crowd counts out loud, and anyone can step up for a try.
Row Sprint Challenge
Athletes race 500 meters on a rowing machine, with the best times posted on a board. Quick, intense and fun to watch.
Pledge Per Rep
Supporters pledge a small amount for every rep an athlete completes in a set workout. Athletes push for every last rep.
Buy Burpees for Friends
Spectators pay a few dollars to add bonus burpees to a friend's workout. It raises money and gets big laughs from the crowd.
Superhero Workout
Athletes wear superhero costumes for one workout. The photos are great, and the best costume wins a prize.
Sponsor Named Workout
A sponsor names one of the event workouts. Their name is announced every time the workout starts and shows on every scoreboard.
Kids Obstacle Course
Set up a short obstacle course with tunnels, cones and hurdles for kids. Every finisher gets a medal and a high-five.
Chalk Handprint Wall
Finishers leave a chalk handprint and sign their name on a big board. It becomes a great photo backdrop and lasting tradition.
