Venue Overview
Vail Golf Club is the Town of Vail's public golf course, an 18-hole, par-71 mountain layout operated by the Vail Recreation District at the base of the Gore Range, just east of Vail Village. Designed and built in 1962 by Vail pioneer Ben Krueger and recognized by Golf Digest as a Top 100 Resort Course, it is the Vail Valley's most walkable course, threading along Gore Creek and the edge of the White River National Forest at 8,200 feet. With tree-lined fairways, mountain views from every hole, a full practice facility, and the popular Grill on the Gore restaurant, Vail Golf Club is a scenic, friendly, and accessible home for tournaments, outings, and group play.About the Course
Operated by the Vail Recreation District, Vail Golf Club is an 18-hole, par-71 mountain course originally designed and built by Vail pioneer Ben Krueger in 1962, making it one of the longest-standing courses in the valley. Set at 8,200 feet along Gore Creek, it plays to roughly 6,750 yards and rewards accuracy through stands of towering trees, with Gore Range views as a constant companion. Course features: 18-hole, par-71 mountain course designed by Ben Krueger Roughly 6,750 yards, with a course rating of 71.2 and a slope of 132 Built in 1962, set at 8,200 feet at the base of the Gore Range Flat, tree-lined fairways that demand accuracy Gore Creek and several beaver ponds in play across the layout Numerous greenside and fairway bunkers guarding smooth greens Adjacent to the White River National Forest Recognized by Golf Digest as a Top 100 Resort Course The Vail Valley's most walkable course, open seasonally June through mid-OctoberThe Playing Experience
Vail Golf Club packs a lot of mountain character into a walkable, welcoming round. The fairways are relatively flat but tightly tree-lined, so accuracy off the tee matters more than length, and Gore Creek and a series of beaver ponds add both beauty and bite on several holes. The greens are smooth and can run quick, well guarded by bunkers, and at 8,200 feet the thin air sends the ball noticeably farther. What golfers remember most is the scenery: standing on the back nine with the Gore Range towering overhead is the kind of view that makes a missed putt easy to forgive. It is little wonder the club is regularly named one of the friendliest courses in the country.Practice Facilities & Amenities
