Venue Overview

Wellshire Golf Course is an 18-hole municipal golf course in Denver, Colorado, and the only public course west of the Mississippi built to a Donald Ross design. Opened in 1926 and marking its 100th anniversary this year, Wellshire pairs a country-club atmosphere with municipal pricing, mature tree-lined fairways, and an on-site events center for groups looking to golf and gather in one place.

Wellshire has carried its country-club character since 1926, when Donald Ross laid out the course on rolling terrain lined by mature trees. The club's own history ties the course to Ben Hogan, and Wellshire continues to be rated among Denver's top municipal courses by golfers today.

Lessons & Instruction

Wellshire's teaching staff, as of 2026, includes:
  • Angel Macias, PGA Associate, Assistant Golf Professional — based at Wellshire; a Denver native, educated at Denver East High School and Colorado Mountain College.
Private and group instruction is available with PGA professionals at the facility. Lessons are typically taught April through November. Denver Golf instructors may also teach across other Denver Golf facilities.

Tournaments & Events

Wellshire is part of the citywide Denver Golf events program, which runs public tournaments and league play across its eight courses throughout the season, including the Bonanza League at Wellshire. As the club marks its 100th anniversary, additional anniversary programming and events are being added — check the club's events page for current offerings.
