Venue Overview

North Lake Park sits on the north shore of Lake Loveland and is run by the City of Loveland Parks and Recreation. The City publishes 2750 N. Taft Ave. for the park and 900 Logan Dr. for the restrooms beside the courts; the courts have no official street address. Park hours citywide are 6 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Court reservations go through Jeanne Boswell at 970.962.2432. Park acreage and the year the courts were built are not published.

About the Courts

Twelve outdoor tennis courts, stated on the City's Tennis and Pickleball page and confirmed again on the official park brochure map, which numbers them 1 through 12. In the City's own words, most park locations have two courts each, with the exception of North Lake Park, which has 12 courts located behind Loveland High School. That makes it the city's largest tennis venue. North Lake appears on the City's list of parks with lighted courts, but the City never states how many of the 12 are lit. Surface is not published, and North Lake is not one of the City's pickleball sites.

Twelve Courts Behind Loveland High School

The relationship with the high school next door matters. The City lists the courts as a park amenity and takes reservations and fees for them, but its own park brochure draws an approximate Parks and school district property boundary through the area and separately labels "Loveland High School" and "(12) Tennis Courts." No intergovernmental agreement or lease with Thompson School District turned up, so ownership of the land under the courts is unresolved. Whether the high school team plays on these exact courts is strongly indicated but not officially confirmed.

Lessons & Instruction

City lessons cover ages three and up, with tracks for toddlers, 10 and under, beginners, advanced beginners and intermediates, offered spring, summer and fall, plus privates and semi-privates. Kids programming adds a Junior Rally Ball League, Little Tennis, half-day camps and adaptive tennis. Adults get Live Ball, Drill/Play, Cardio Tennis, Tennis-ize for seniors and Learn/Play league programs. On coaching, two City-linked sources disagree. The lovgov.org domain names Williams Tennis School and Steve Williams, USPTA P1 Elite Professional. The City's tennis registration site, lovelandtennis.net, says the programs are run by Coast to Coast Tennis, LLC, owned by Marsh Riggs, also a USPTA Pro 1 Elite Professional. Nothing published resolves it, so confirm with Parks and Recreation first.

Leagues & Events

The Loveland Tennis Association is the engine here, which the City describes as a self-directed group offering adult leagues, tournaments and socials. Its USTA-sanctioned tournaments here include the North Lake Invitational, September 23 through 27, 2026, with registration closing September 14 and a 2024 edition confirming it as recurring; the Loveland Open, July 13 through 19, 2026; and the 2nd Annual Loveland Round Robin, June 8 through 14. Summer socials ran May 16, June 20, June 27 and July 11.

All courts stay open for drop-in use unless reserved in advance, with no gate fee or membership required for casual play. LTA membership is only needed for league teams and socials. Paid reservations for exclusive use are confirmed once a facility use permit is completed and fees paid. Note a conflict in the City's own instructions: two City pages say call 970.962.2432 at least 12 hours ahead, while the North Lake Park page says 970.962.9432 with 24 hours notice. The 2432 number appears on three City sources, so 9432 is likely a typo.
