Cattails Golf Club is an 18-hole public course owned by the City of Alamosa, set just north of the Rio Grande River in the heart of the San Luis Valley. About the Course

Cattails' front nine has been part of the Alamosa golf scene for roughly 60 years, while the back nine was designed in 1991 by noted Colorado architect Dick Phelps. Wetlands and mature cottonwood trees frame the layout throughout, and the course's location just north of the Rio Grande gives golfers sweeping views in every direction. New irrigation systems installed on the front nine in 2019 and the back nine in 2024 have kept the course in excellent shape, and Cattails' greens are widely regarded as among the best in the state. The contrast between the two nines, one shaped by decades of history and the other by a well-known modern architect, gives the round a variety that many small-town municipal courses can't match.

Junior golfers have three distinct options: the Cattails Junior Golf Program, the Jon Atencio U.S. Kids Golf Academy using the Operation 36 development system, and private individual or group lessons, giving young players a genuine pathway to improve their game throughout the summer.
