Venue Overview

Monte Vista Golf Course has been making tee times since 1928, offering a relaxing 9-hole parkland layout in the heart of the San Luis Valley. The course plays to a par 35 across 3,044 yards, with a welcoming atmosphere suited to golfers of every skill level. Beyond the course itself, Monte Vista has added state-of-the-art golf and multisport simulator bays, giving members and visitors a way to play year-round regardless of Colorado’s mountain weather. Nearly a century of continuous operation makes Monte Vista one of the longest-running golf clubs in the San Luis Valley, and its blend of traditional parkland golf with modern indoor simulator technology is a rare combination for a course this size.

About the Course

Monte Vista’s nine holes wind through a classic parkland setting, opening with a gentle, birdie-friendly par four before building to the course’s lone par five on the second hole. The par-three third hole is guarded by two large bunkers and a false front and back, rewarding precise distance control, while the par-four fourth hole earns its reputation as the toughest test on the course thanks to a tiny, three-tiered green. A canal comes into play on both the seventh and eighth holes, adding a water hazard element that’s uncommon for a course of this size, and the round closes with a visually demanding par-three ninth, where a large tree partially obscures the green and the same canal lurks behind, making the finishing hole as memorable as it is challenging.

Practice Facilities

Golfers can warm up on Monte Vista’s driving range before their round, and the course’s state-of-the-art golf simulator bays double as a practice tool, giving golfers high-speed sensor and ball-tracking feedback on distance, launch, spin, and accuracy regardless of the season.

Dining and Amenities

Monte Vista’s clubhouse includes a bar that stays open alongside the golf and multisport simulator bays, giving golfers a place to relax before or after a round. The multisport simulator bay turns the hitting screen into a ballpark, hockey rink, bowling alley, football field, soccer pitch, or disc golf course, offering entertainment well beyond golf for members and their families. The club also offers flexible indoor and outdoor event spaces tailored for weddings, receptions, and gatherings of all sizes, with on-site staff focused on smooth day-of coordination. Membership at Monte Vista includes exclusive benefits, priority tee times, and special rates, making it an appealing option for golfers who want a home course with modern amenities in the San Luis Valley.

Lessons & Instruction

Monte Vista Golf Course does not have a named PGA teaching professional on staff. Golfers looking for lessons are encouraged to contact the golf shop directly for current instruction options and recommendations in the San Luis Valley, and the on-site simulator bays offer an additional way to work on swing mechanics with instant data feedback between lessons.

Tournaments & Events

Monte Vista hosts Men’s and Ladies Leagues throughout the season, giving members a chance to compete regularly and track standings via the club’s league leaderboard. The course and simulator bays together make Monte Vista a flexible host for tournaments and league nights alike, with simulator play offering a rain-or-shine backup for scheduled events.
