Venue Overview

Highland Meadows Golf Course is a public, 18-hole golf course in Windsor, Colorado, designed by architect Art Schaupeter and built in 2004. The course plays to a par of 71 across 7,039 yards from the longest tees and has earned a reputation as one of northern Colorado's premier public tests — serving as an annual host for the PGA Tour's Korn Ferry Tour qualifying and numerous USGA and Colorado Golf Association championships and qualifiers.

About the Course

Highland Meadows was Art Schaupeter's first solo design project. Schaupeter got his start working under architect Keith Foster, assisting on two other notable Colorado layouts — Buffalo Run in Commerce City and Haymaker in Steamboat Springs — before Highland Meadows' ownership group, impressed by his work at Buffalo Run, gave him the opportunity to design the Windsor course on his own, given the similar character of the two properties. Foster instilled in Schaupeter a deep respect for the history of golf design, and Schaupeter has spent his career studying the game from a Scottish and Irish links perspective — an influence clearly visible at Highland Meadows in its rolling terrain, broad swaths of fescue, and creative green complexes.

A Links-Influenced Schaupeter Design

Highland Meadows carries the imprint of Art Schaupeter's Scottish- and Irish-links-inspired design philosophy — rolling, natural terrain, generous fescue rough, and green complexes built to reward creative shot-making around the putting surfaces. It was the project that launched Schaupeter as a solo architect, and its championship pedigree, evidenced by its steady rotation of USGA, CGA, and PGA Tour qualifying events, has helped cement his reputation in the state.
