Venue Overview

Trinidad Municipal Golf Course is a public, 9-hole golf course in Trinidad, Colorado, established in 1915 and recognized for years as one of Colorado's best nine-hole golf courses. Framed by the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and Fisher's Peak, the course uses four distinct tee box locations on every hole, making an 18-hole round the norm despite the 9-hole routing, with the white/blue tees playing 6,160 yards at a rating of 68.7 and a slope of 114.

About the Course

One of the oldest golf courses in Colorado, Trinidad Municipal has built its reputation on more than just longevity. Elevation changes, tightly guarded greens, bunkers, and mature woodlands give the course a level of challenge that belies its "small town charm," and it's often said locally that the layout carries the fingerprints of Donald Ross, though that connection remains more legend than documented fact. With four separate tee locations on each of its nine holes, players see a genuinely different look and challenge on the front and back nines, effectively delivering a full 18-hole test.
  • Public, 9-hole course established in 1915 — one of the oldest in Colorado
  • Four tee box locations per hole; 18 holes is the standard round
  • White/Blue tees: 6,160 yards, rating 68.7, slope 114
  • Gray/Black tees: 5,651 yards, rating 66.2, slope 110
  • Yellow/Red tees: 5,337 yards, rating 65.4, slope 109

  • Rumored (though unconfirmed) Donald Ross design influence

The Bell Hole

Trinidad's signature hole is the par-4 second, known locally as the "Bell Hole." A blind tee shot sails over a hill with no view of the landing area, so players wait for a bell — mounted beside the cart path near the green — to ring before teeing off, signaling that the group ahead has cleared the fairway. The elevated green beyond features a false front created by a large undulation, making it one of the most talked-about holes on the course and a genuine rite of passage for first-time visitors.

Apply for Event Management

Event Management Application (2027)
CUP manages 10 sporting events per season, and that is the cap.
Applications for the 2027 season are reviewed starting October 1, 2026. Returning clients confirm their dates first, then remaining slots go to new clients. This is an application, not a booking, and it takes about 6 minutes.

Your organization

Who is hosting, and how we reach you.

Beneficiary

Only if the event raises money for a cause.

Your sporting event

The basics we need to judge fit.

Out-of-state note: our standard pricing covers events held in Colorado. Events outside Colorado are quoted individually with travel and on-site costs included.
Worth knowing before you submit: our fully-managed service starts at 100 people on site. Below that the economics do not work for either of us, so this is likely not a fit. You can still apply, and you can always list your sporting event on the CUP calendar instead.
This one gets a custom quote. Our standard service model covers single-day events with 100 to 160 people on site, including vendors. Larger fields and multi-day events still work, we just scope them and send a custom quote instead of a standard price.

What success looks like

So we can tell you straight whether we are the right team.

Budget and timing

Fully-managed service is a real line item. Straight answers save us both time.

A CUP engagement runs roughly 150 to 200 hours of planning, design, marketing and coordination, handled by one team from the first call to the final award. Applications need a real budget line for professional management, separate from venue, food and prizes.
Worth knowing before you submit: a fully-managed engagement sits above this range, so this is likely not a fit for 2027. You are welcome to apply anyway. If self-serve is the better move right now, you can list your sporting event and add promotion here: list your event.
