Venue Overview

Thorncreek Golf Course is a fun, challenging public golf course in Thornton, Colorado, right off I-25 in the north Denver metro. Owned by the City of Thornton and designed by the respected firm of Finger Dye Spann, this 18-hole, links-style championship layout offers a genuine variety of holes, with lakes, creeks, and native areas that demand smart decisions from tee to green. Recently treated to a major course and clubhouse renovation, and open year-round, Thorncreek pairs a rewarding round with a full-service clubhouse, banquet facilities, and a welcoming community feel, making it a great home for tournaments, outings, leagues, and everyday golf.

About the Course

Thorncreek is an 18-hole, par-72 championship course designed by Finger Dye Spann, Inc., opened in 1992 and renovated in 2018. A links-style layout with a unique twist, a street separates the front nine from the back, it stretches to roughly 7,268 yards from the championship tees, with lakes and native areas bringing water and trouble into play. It is a municipal course, open to the public and playable year-round. Course features: 18-hole, par-72 links-style championship course designed by Finger Dye Spann Roughly 7,268 yards from the championship tees, with multiple tees from about 5,547 yards A course rating of 73.6 and a slope of 135 Opened in 1992 and renovated in 2018, along with the clubhouse A links-style layout where a street separates the front and back nines Lakes, creeks, and native areas that bring water and strategy into play A signature par-4 18th with water down one side, and a demanding 621-yard par-5 7th Open to the public and playable year-round

The Playing Experience

Thorncreek is a fun and genuinely challenging muni that rewards thoughtful golf. There is good variety from hole to hole, and plenty of decisions to make off the tee, driver is tempting on many holes, but native areas, creeks, and ponds lurk, so position often matters more than power. The par 5s are a highlight: the 621-yard 7th is the course's number one handicap and a true three-shot test, while others are reachable with a good drive, and the downhill 5th offers a beautiful look at a green full of slopes and ridges where three-putts are common. The quirky routing, with a street dividing the nines, adds to the character, and thanks to a recent renovation of both the course and clubhouse, it is in good shape and ready for a round any time of year.

Apply for Event Management

Event Management Application (2027)
CUP manages 10 sporting events per season, and that is the cap.
Applications for the 2027 season are reviewed starting October 1, 2026. Returning clients confirm their dates first, then remaining slots go to new clients. This is an application, not a booking, and it takes about 6 minutes.

Your organization

Who is hosting, and how we reach you.

Beneficiary

Only if the event raises money for a cause.

Your sporting event

The basics we need to judge fit.

Out-of-state note: our standard pricing covers events held in Colorado. Events outside Colorado are quoted individually with travel and on-site costs included.
Worth knowing before you submit: our fully-managed service starts at 100 people on site. Below that the economics do not work for either of us, so this is likely not a fit. You can still apply, and you can always list your sporting event on the CUP calendar instead.
This one gets a custom quote. Our standard service model covers single-day events with 100 to 160 people on site, including vendors. Larger fields and multi-day events still work, we just scope them and send a custom quote instead of a standard price.

What success looks like

So we can tell you straight whether we are the right team.

Budget and timing

Fully-managed service is a real line item. Straight answers save us both time.

A CUP engagement runs roughly 150 to 200 hours of planning, design, marketing and coordination, handled by one team from the first call to the final award. Applications need a real budget line for professional management, separate from venue, food and prizes.
Worth knowing before you submit: a fully-managed engagement sits above this range, so this is likely not a fit for 2027. You are welcome to apply anyway. If self-serve is the better move right now, you can list your sporting event and add promotion here: list your event.
