Venue Overview

The Sanctuary is a private, 18-hole golf club in Sedalia, Colorado, designed by architect Jim Engh and opened in 1997. Playing to a par of 72 across 7,052 yards with a slope rating of 142, The Sanctuary is widely regarded as one of the most exclusive rounds of golf in the country — an invite-only course that limits play to roughly 9,000 rounds per year to preserve its dramatic natural setting.

About the Course

Jim Engh's design at The Sanctuary takes full advantage of a site defined by towering rock formations, dramatic elevation change, and sweeping panoramic views of the Rocky Mountains. Rather than imposing a conventional layout on the land, Engh routed the course to work with the terrain's natural drama, producing holes that feel carved out of the landscape rather than built on top of it. That combination of setting and design has made The Sanctuary one of Colorado's most talked-about golf experiences, even though almost no one gets to play it.

One of the Most Exclusive Rounds in Golf

What sets The Sanctuary apart isn't just its design — it's its scarcity. By capping annual rounds at roughly 9,000 and operating on a strictly invite-only basis, the club has deliberately limited access in order to protect both the golf experience and the surrounding terrain and wildlife. That approach has helped cement The Sanctuary's reputation as one of the most exclusive courses in the country, a genuine bucket-list round for the golfers fortunate enough to secure an invitation.

Practice Facilities & Amenities

  • Practice facilities for invited guests
  • Clubhouse amenities
  • High-end hospitality built around an invite-only model

Golf Operations

The Sanctuary is a private, invitation-only course that hosts charitable events rather than public play, and its golf operations are led by PGA Professional Rudy Zupetz. Instruction isn’t a standard public offering here; play and programming are arranged through the club for its invited guests and events. (Staff as of 2026.)

Tournaments & Events

The Sanctuary's exclusivity and dramatic setting make it an extraordinary option for high-end corporate outings and special invitation events, subject to the club's limited-access policies.

Planning Your Event Here

The Sanctuary's Jim Engh design, rock-formation terrain, and invite-only exclusivity make it one of Colorado's most distinctive settings for a golf event, where access can be arranged. Contact the club directly to inquire. The course is located at 7549 N. Daniels Park Road, Sedalia, CO 80135 (303-224-2860).

Apply for Event Management

Event Management Application (2027)
CUP manages 10 sporting events per season, and that is the cap.
Applications for the 2027 season are reviewed starting October 1, 2026. Returning clients confirm their dates first, then remaining slots go to new clients. This is an application, not a booking, and it takes about 6 minutes.

Your organization

Who is hosting, and how we reach you.

Beneficiary

Only if the event raises money for a cause.

Your sporting event

The basics we need to judge fit.

Out-of-state note: our standard pricing covers events held in Colorado. Events outside Colorado are quoted individually with travel and on-site costs included.
Worth knowing before you submit: our fully-managed service starts at 100 people on site. Below that the economics do not work for either of us, so this is likely not a fit. You can still apply, and you can always list your sporting event on the CUP calendar instead.
This one gets a custom quote. Our standard service model covers single-day events with 100 to 160 people on site, including vendors. Larger fields and multi-day events still work, we just scope them and send a custom quote instead of a standard price.

What success looks like

So we can tell you straight whether we are the right team.

Budget and timing

Fully-managed service is a real line item. Straight answers save us both time.

A CUP engagement runs roughly 150 to 200 hours of planning, design, marketing and coordination, handled by one team from the first call to the final award. Applications need a real budget line for professional management, separate from venue, food and prizes.
Worth knowing before you submit: a fully-managed engagement sits above this range, so this is likely not a fit for 2027. You are welcome to apply anyway. If self-serve is the better move right now, you can list your sporting event and add promotion here: list your event.
