Venue Overview

Northridge is the Highlands Ranch Community Association's racquet sports flagship, at 8800 S Broadway. It opened in 1982 as the first of HRCA's four rec centers and was expanded to 62,600 square feet in 2018. The Tennis Monitor Desk at 303-471-8996 handles reservations, lessons, leagues and the daily outdoor court status call. In 2025 the PTR named HRCA its Public Facility of the Year, accepted by head professional Frank Adams. Note that USTA, Yelp and several local outlets list 8801 S Broadway; HRCA itself publishes 8800.

About the Courts

HRCA's own Gyms and Sport Courts table is the authority here. Northridge has six indoor tennis courts under a covered pavilion, with their own hours and hourly fees, plus five lighted outdoor courts, two ball machines and one backboard. Across the system there are 16 tennis courts, 11 at Northridge and five at Southridge. Surface material is not published for either indoor or outdoor; HRCA says only that they were newly resurfaced. There are also ten indoor racquetball courts with glass back walls. Pickleball has no dedicated courts here. HRCA sets it up in the gyms weekly and deliberately publishes no count; the six outdoor pickleball courts are at Westridge.

A Covered Pavilion That Keeps Play Going

The pavilion is a fabric canopy over metal beams, and a 2018 project gave it a new roof, an insulated multi-layer skin, improved heating and resurfaced courts. That is what makes Northridge useful in February. Indoor hours run 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekdays and 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekends, with fees tiered seasonally. Outdoor courts follow facility hours and close for weather or ice on a court-by-court determination.

Lessons & Instruction

HRCA runs adult and senior lessons and drills, socials, leagues, youth lessons, camps, and privates and semi-privates for ages eight and up, across eight sessions of six to seven weeks each in 2026. USTA Junior Team Tennis for ages 10 to 18 runs in summer across Northridge and Southridge, practicing twice weekly with Monday morning matches. Drop-ins are allowed at regular fees through the Monitor Desk. The published teaching staff is deep: Frank Adams, Head Tennis and Pickleball Professional, a PTR International Master Professional and USTA Wheelchair Tennis Coach, Black Tennis Hall of Fame 2021; Brent Mazza, USPTA Elite; Christina Walker, PTR, at HRCA since 2002; Ginger Angell, PTR and a USTA Tournament Director; Sofia Urosvich, PTR Level 1, who coaches Special Olympics tennis; Mike Marocchi, PTR and PPR; and pickleball professionals Blaine Cochran and Brian Crawley.

Leagues & Events

HRCA and USTA-CTA adult league registration for 2026 opened January 5, and USTA Colorado's 2026 Denver facility usage report lists Northridge hosting HRCA-N teams from April 29. Indoor block time applications opened February 18, 2026, covering 30-week, 15-week fall and 13-week winter and spring blocks, applied for through a Google Form. HRCA also runs Special Olympics and wheelchair tennis. It publishes no named recurring tennis tournament at Northridge; its calendar showed none as of August 2026.

Eleven courts, a dedicated monitor desk and a formal block-time process make this a workable host for league play. Access is the constraint. HRCA membership is tied to Highlands Ranch property ownership, renters can join with an owner consent form and lease, and everyone over age nine needs a card. Guests must be registered and paid for by a member, four per household per day. Reservations run through the PerfectMind portal, members only, up to 48 hours ahead, two hour maximum.
