Aspen Glen's championship golf course is an 18-hole layout co-designed by Jack Nicklaus and Jack Nicklaus II, opened in 1997 and recently reimagined as part of a multimillion-dollar transformation. Playing to 7,455 yards at the base of Mt. Sopris, it is defined by the Roaring Fork River, which comes into play on eight holes, and by more than fifty bunkers that demand precise approaches. As a private club, golf is reserved for members and their guests. The Roaring Fork River is the star, threading along or across eight holes and culminating in a spectacular island green on the par-3 9th, while more than fifty bunkers cluster near the greens to put a premium on accurate approach play. The course flows through a gated community whose homes are set back so as not to intrude on the golf, leaving the eye free to wander to Mt. Sopris and the surrounding peaks from nearly every tee. Playable for all levels yet challenging enough to test the best, and freshly enhanced by a major renovation, it is a genuinely memorable round in the heart of the Roaring Fork Valley.
