Planning a visit to Springfield Municipal Golf Course? Below you will find course details, amenities, and upcoming tournaments and events hosted at this course, plus everything you need to know before you tee off.

Venue Overview

Springfield Municipal Golf Course is a 9-hole public golf course in Springfield, Colorado, located in the far southeastern corner of the state near the Oklahoma and Kansas borders. Designed by J.R. Hatcher and dating back to 1945, the course plays 3,433 yards to a par of 36, making it one of the longer-established municipal courses on Colorado's southeastern plains.

About the Course

Springfield Municipal Golf Course has served the small community of Springfield and surrounding Baca County for more than three-quarters of a century, giving golfers in one of Colorado's most remote corners a dependable place to play close to home. Its location near the tri-state meeting point of Colorado, Oklahoma, and Kansas puts it far from the state's major population centers, but that isolation has helped preserve its character as a genuine small-town municipal course. J.R. Hatcher's original routing has stood the test of time, remaining the community's golf home for generations of local families. Reaching Springfield takes some effort, with golfers typically traveling Highway 287 or Highway 160 through the far southeastern corner of the state. That remoteness is part of what has kept the course such a genuine community fixture, largely unchanged and still serving the same purpose it has for generations: giving Baca County residents an affordable, accessible place to play golf.

Practice Facilities

Springfield Municipal Golf Course offers space for golfers to warm up before their round, keeping its pre-round routine simple in keeping with its role as a modest, community-run municipal facility.

Dining and Amenities

Springfield Municipal Golf Course maintains a straightforward, community-first approach to its amenities, with a dress code requiring shirts and shoes on the course. As a municipal facility serving a small rural community, the course prioritizes an affordable, accessible round of golf over added frills.

Lessons & Instruction

Springfield Municipal Golf Course does not currently have a confirmed PGA-affiliated teaching professional on staff. After a thorough search of available records, including PGA of America's member directory, no current named instructor could be verified for this facility. Golfers seeking formal lessons should plan to arrange instruction at a nearby regional facility, though the course's small-town, community-oriented atmosphere still makes it a welcoming place to play and learn the game.

Tournaments & Events

Springfield Municipal Golf Course serves as a gathering point for golfers throughout Baca County and the surrounding far southeastern corner of Colorado. Its manageable 9-hole layout makes it well suited to casual scrambles, club outings, and informal weekend group play throughout the golf season. The course remains an important recreational resource for a part of the state with few other nearby golf options.

Planning Your Event Here

Springfield Municipal Golf Course's remote setting and long-standing community roots make it a great choice for casual tournaments, community fundraisers, and group outings looking for an authentic slice of rural Colorado golf near the tri-state corner. Its accessible 9-hole layout suits both beginner-friendly events and more experienced groups.

Apply for Event Management

Event Management Application (2027)
CUP manages 10 sporting events per season, and that is the cap.
Applications for the 2027 season are reviewed starting October 1, 2026. Returning clients confirm their dates first, then remaining slots go to new clients. This is an application, not a booking, and it takes about 6 minutes.

Your organization

Who is hosting, and how we reach you.

Beneficiary

Only if the event raises money for a cause.

Your sporting event

The basics we need to judge fit.

Out-of-state note: our standard pricing covers events held in Colorado. Events outside Colorado are quoted individually with travel and on-site costs included.
Worth knowing before you submit: our fully-managed service starts at 100 people on site. Below that the economics do not work for either of us, so this is likely not a fit. You can still apply, and you can always list your sporting event on the CUP calendar instead.
This one gets a custom quote. Our standard service model covers single-day events with 100 to 160 people on site, including vendors. Larger fields and multi-day events still work, we just scope them and send a custom quote instead of a standard price.

What success looks like

So we can tell you straight whether we are the right team.

Budget and timing

Fully-managed service is a real line item. Straight answers save us both time.

A CUP engagement runs roughly 150 to 200 hours of planning, design, marketing and coordination, handled by one team from the first call to the final award. Applications need a real budget line for professional management, separate from venue, food and prizes.
Worth knowing before you submit: a fully-managed engagement sits above this range, so this is likely not a fit for 2027. You are welcome to apply anyway. If self-serve is the better move right now, you can list your sporting event and add promotion here: list your event.
