Venue Overview
Quail Dunes Golf Course at Fort Morgan is an 18-hole, par-72 municipal course set along the South Platte River in northeastern Colorado, where more than 300 days of sunshine a year make it a nearly year-round golf destination. Built on 165 acres with 57 acres of native rough and wetland habitat, Quail Dunes has been designated an Audubon Wildlife Sanctuary since 1994, giving golfers a round that doubles as a walk through eagle, hawk, deer, quail, pheasant, and coyote habitat along the way.About the Course
- The original front nine was designed by architect Henry Hughes and opened in the early 1920s, making it one of the older golf layouts on Colorado's Eastern Plains
- A second nine, designed by Frank Hummel, was added in the late 1960s along with the driving range
- 18 holes playing to a par of 72, with yardage ranging from 5,300 to 6,600 across four tee boxes
- Designated an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary in 1994 in recognition of its wildlife habitat and conservation practices
- Operated by the City of Fort Morgan's Golf Course division, which also runs a dedicated Junior Golf Academy program
- Terrain varies from tree-lined fairways to rolling hills, with scenic views throughout the round
- The maintenance department grooms the course at four different mowing heights and manages a winter activity program on the grounds when snow closes the course to golf
Practice Facilities
Golfers have access to a large practice green for putting and chipping, a full driving range for long-game work, and a bunker for sand-play practice. Annual range passes are available for individuals, families, and juniors, giving regulars an affordable way to keep their swing sharp between rounds. The Pro Shop, with more than 1,200 square feet of retail space, can outfit golfers with clubs, balls, shoes, and apparel from brands including Titleist, Callaway, TaylorMade, Ping, Cobra, and Cleveland, plus rental clubs for visitors, headwear from New Era and Imperial, and eyewear from Oakley.Lessons & Instruction
