Venue Overview

Pole Creek Golf Club is one of the few public 27-hole golf facilities in Colorado, and the only one in Grand County, spread across a stretch of high-mountain terrain near Tabernash between Winter Park and Granby. Owned and operated by the Fraser Valley Metropolitan Recreation District, the course meanders through fields of native wildflowers, dramatic elevation changes, and water hazards spanning two ponds and five lakes. Three distinct nines, Ridge, Meadow, and Ranch, each play to par 36 and can be combined into any 18-hole pairing, giving golfers a different look every time they play. Pole Creek has repeatedly been named Colorado's top mountain golf course by national and regional publications alike.

About the Course

  • 27 holes across three distinct nines — Ridge, Meadow, and Ranch — each playing to par 36
  • Ridge nine reaches the course's highest point at 8,812 feet of elevation
  • Combined yardage of 7,107 yards from the back tees across the various 18-hole pairings
  • Water hazards include two ponds and five lakes woven throughout the routing
  • Owned and operated by the Fraser Valley Metropolitan Recreation District
  • Rated Colorado's #1 Mountain Golf Course by Golf Advisor multiple years running (2015-2019)
  • Named among America's 500 Best Places You Can Play by Golf Digest in 1995

Practice Facilities

Golfers can warm up on a grass driving range, practice putting green, and a separated chipping green with its own sand bunker. Rental clubs are available for men, women, and children, and lesson-goers can add access to a Full Swing launch monitor for detailed swing feedback during instruction.

Dining and Amenities

Bistro 28, the club's on-site restaurant, serves clubhouse fare built around fresh, locally sourced ingredients from a dining room and patio with panoramic mountain and course views. It's open to golfers, the public, and anyone waiting on a group to finish a round, with walk-ins welcome and reservations recommended for parties of six or more. The Bistro bar opens for grab-and-go service at 8 a.m., with the full menu available from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Lessons & Instruction

  • JT Thompson — Golf Instructor
  • Tanner Zupfer — Golf Instructor
Pole Creek's instruction staff, certified through the United States Golf Teachers Federation, offers private one-on-one coaching starting at $60 for a 30-minute session, with group rates available for two or three students. Junior golfers age 17 and under receive a 25% discount on standard lesson pricing. In partnership with the Fraser Valley Metropolitan Recreation District's general recreation department, the club also runs group lessons for beginning and intermediate juniors as well as beginner and novice adults.

Tournaments & Events

Pole Creek's staff handles the full range of tournament logistics, including cart and hole assignments, handicapping, scoring services, score sheets, tournament pairings, and on-site catering with beverage cart service, and the club can accommodate shotgun-style formats across 9, 18, 27, or a full 36 holes. The course's trophy case reflects decades of recognition, including a 1985 Golf Digest Best New Public Golf Course award, multiple America's Best 75 Public Golf Courses rankings in 1988 and 1990, and top-mountain-course honors from Colorado Avid Golfer and Golf Advisor across nearly every year from 2013 through 2022.

Planning Your Event Here

With three nines to mix and match, a dedicated tournament operations team, and Bistro 28 on hand for catering and post-round gatherings, Pole Creek is well suited to everything from a member-guest outing to a large corporate scramble. Groups can book online tee times, coordinate custom scorecards and proximity markers, and wrap the day with a meal on the restaurant's mountain-view patio. The club's active Men's and Ladies' Club programs, along with its seasonal resident card and season pass options, also make it a natural home base for golfers planning a recurring event or league throughout the summer.

Apply for Event Management

Event Management Application (2027)
CUP manages 10 sporting events per season, and that is the cap.
Applications for the 2027 season are reviewed starting October 1, 2026. Returning clients confirm their dates first, then remaining slots go to new clients. This is an application, not a booking, and it takes about 6 minutes.

Your organization

Who is hosting, and how we reach you.

Beneficiary

Only if the event raises money for a cause.

Your sporting event

The basics we need to judge fit.

Out-of-state note: our standard pricing covers events held in Colorado. Events outside Colorado are quoted individually with travel and on-site costs included.
Worth knowing before you submit: our fully-managed service starts at 100 people on site. Below that the economics do not work for either of us, so this is likely not a fit. You can still apply, and you can always list your sporting event on the CUP calendar instead.
This one gets a custom quote. Our standard service model covers single-day events with 100 to 160 people on site, including vendors. Larger fields and multi-day events still work, we just scope them and send a custom quote instead of a standard price.

What success looks like

So we can tell you straight whether we are the right team.

Budget and timing

Fully-managed service is a real line item. Straight answers save us both time.

A CUP engagement runs roughly 150 to 200 hours of planning, design, marketing and coordination, handled by one team from the first call to the final award. Applications need a real budget line for professional management, separate from venue, food and prizes.
Worth knowing before you submit: a fully-managed engagement sits above this range, so this is likely not a fit for 2027. You are welcome to apply anyway. If self-serve is the better move right now, you can list your sporting event and add promotion here: list your event.

Then we will be in touch.
