Opened in 1950 and designed by the Army Corps of Engineers, the course carries a slope rating of 119 and a USGA rating of 70.5, making it one of the more challenging 9-hole layouts on Colorado’s Eastern Plains.

About the Course

La Junta Golf Club has served the Arkansas Valley community for more than seventy years, giving local golfers and visitors a genuine grass-greens golf experience in southeastern Colorado. The course’s three sets of tees allow golfers of varying skill levels to find the right challenge, and its Army Corps of Engineers design brings a level of strategic routing that stands out among the region’s small-town courses. With true grass greens rather than sand, La Junta Golf Club offers a more traditional playing surface than several of its Eastern Plains neighbors.

Practice Facilities

La Junta Golf Club features an on-site driving range where golfers can warm up before their round, along with golf cart rentals and sales for visitors who need equipment.

Dining and Amenities

The course’s clubhouse includes a bar and grill along with a full-service pro shop, giving golfers a place to relax before or after their round. Golf instruction is available on-site, making the course a convenient option for beginners looking to learn the game as well as experienced golfers looking to sharpen their skills. The pro shop also handles cart and equipment rentals, giving visiting golfers an easy way to arrive without their own gear.

Lessons & Instruction

La Junta Golf Club offers on-site golf instruction, though the course does not currently list a dedicated PGA-affiliated teaching professional by name. Golfers interested in lessons should contact the pro shop directly to arrange instruction.

Tournaments & Events

La Junta Golf Club hosts tournaments and community events throughout its summer and winter seasons, drawing golfers from across Otero County and the surrounding Arkansas Valley. Its full-service pro shop and bar and grill make it easy to host a complete tournament day, from morning tee times through post-round get-togethers.
